Officials have positively identified the remains of a girl whose body was found hidden in brush under a plastic tarp in 1973, Pennsylvania authorities said this week. The remains belong to Ruth Elizabeth Brenneman, 14, Pennsylvania State Police Sgt. Pennsylvania State Police via APOfficials have spent the last 50 years attempting to identify the girl, Lacey said. They are also trying to determine whether Brenneman was considered missing and on what day she went missing, Keck said. Anyone who knew Brenneman or knows anything about her is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police.

A Republican senator has blocked the promotion of a general who oversaw troops in Kabul during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, according to a Senate aide. The move by Oklahoma Sen. Hyundai Motor North America announced it will recall over 42,000 vehicles due to a wiring issue that can cause the automobiles to roll away, according to a notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday. The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz and Hyundai Tucson vehicles subject to the recall have transmissions that can shift out of “park” without the brake pedal having to be applied, increasing the risk of a crash or an injury, per the administration. All 2025 Santa Cruz and Tucson vehicles in the U.S. are subject to the recall, including over 35,500 Tucson and 6,900 Santa Cruz vehicles. In early November, it was discovered that the wiring issue that caused the issue with the Tucson vehicle may also have impacted Santa Cruz vehicles. This prompted a review from the North America Safety Decision Authority on Nov. 13 and a recall of the vehicles.
