Bret Taylor, co-CEO of Salesforce, speaks at the Viva Technology Conference in Paris on June 15, 2022. Artificial intelligence startup Sierra, co-founded by ex-Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor, is more than quadrupling its valuation to $4.5 billion in a fresh funding round. The San Francisco-based company, which was valued at $1 billion in January, raised $175 million in a funding round led by Greenoaks Capital. Sierra is focused on helping enterprises like home security company ADT , Sonos , Weight Watchers and Casper personalize and implement AI agents for customer service. There’s only 12 ½ Beatles' albums, there’s about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes,” Martin explained to Lowe. Martin told Lowe that because he loves working on new music, he’ll likely continue to do so after the band retires. It was an incredible moment, and I felt like everybody had my back.”Now, in his latest series, Leguizamo is playing what he calls a “despicable, hateable character” — and he wants as many people as possible to see it. “The Network (platform) is free, all you have to do is subscribe,” Leguizamo said. “We’re doing a platform for diverse, quality stories, important stories.”“The Green Veil” is an eight-episode drama starring Leguizamo in his first lead role on a dramatic television series. Although Leguizamo describes “The Green Veil” as “historical fiction,” it draws on real-life events. GLAAD, the LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has released its 12th annual Studio Responsibility Index tracking films released during 2023. Despite “a huge increase in LGBTQ characters who were front and center in their own narratives,” the study found the number of films with LGBTQ characters dropped in 2023. The survey looked at 256 films from 10 major distributors and their subsidiaries and streaming services. Those 70 films included 170 LGBTQ characters, of which 46% were characters of color, representing an increase of 6% from the 2022 study. If LGBTQ representation continues to decline in major releases, these companies will lose relevance with a crucial buying audience.

Almost half the population of East Timor, the most Catholic nation outside Vatican City, attended a Mass presided over by Pope Francis on Tuesday on the third leg of his Asia trip. An estimated 600,000 people packed the seaside park of Tasitolu near the capital, Dili, the Vatican told reporters, citing local authorities. But the Vatican has also admitted it concealed sexual abuse by members of the clergy in East Timor, including key figures in the independence movement. Francis, 87, is the first pope to visit East Timor since it became an independent state in 2002. “We have the opportunity to see the pope face to face.”The Mass was held at the same site where St. John Paul II, the last pope to visit East Timor, celebrated a historic liturgy in 1989.

Elon Musk has attacked voting by mail as an "insane" idea that encourages election fraud, but he voted by mail twice when he lived in California, according to records of his voting history obtained by NBC News. Musk voted by mail in November 2016, the year Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, and in the November 2018 midterm election, the records show. The state records show that Musk had a sparse history of voting in California. This is the first time Musk's California voting records have been made public. Vivian Jenna Wilson, the transgender daughter of Elon Musk, said Thursday in her first public interview that he was an absent father who was cruel to her as a child for being queer and feminine. Wilson, 20, in an exclusive interview with NBC News, responded to comments that Musk made Monday about her and her transgender identity. She told NBC News that at the time, she was surprised by the media attention to the court filing, which she submitted when she was 18. Wilson told NBC News that those anecdotes are not true, though she said she did act stereotypically feminine in other ways as a child. Musk told Peterson that Wilson's gender transition has been the motivation for his push into conservative politics.

Artificial intelligence has the potential to power a health and wellness revolution, but there are some points that need to be ironed out first. "We could literally cure breast cancer with AI," Barrett said, referring to an algorithm that can predict a woman's five-year risk of breast cancer. "A radiologist looked at it and said, 'She doesn't have breast cancer. AI said, 'I think she's going to have breast cancer in the next two to three years.' That is a game changer because breast cancer is curable if you catch it in stage one."

Waves of boos, angry chants and the steady rhythm of feet pounding on metal seats were upending the graduation ceremony at the University of California, Berkeley. “Viva, viva Palestina!” students sang out. “Hey, hey, ho, ho, Israel’s apartheid has got to go!”It was the soundtrack of this year’s antiwar protest, voiced on the morning of May 11 by hundreds of cap-and-gowned graduates, loud enough to nearly drown out the ceremony’s official speakers — and force the event to halt. It looked like Berkeley’s 2024 commencement was about to be canceled midstream. Once it was over and most had left the school’s low-slung football stadium, Berkeley’s chancellor, Carol Christ, sat near the podium in a folding chair.

Bunq, known for its rainbow-colored cards and a focus on so-called "digital nomads" not bound by any one country or location, initially launched in the U.K. in 2019. The passage of Brexit into law meant that EU-based financial institutions couldn't rely on their own country authorizations to operate in the U.K. market.
