Artificial intelligence startup Sierra, co-founded by ex-Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor, is more than quadrupling its valuation to $4.5 billion in a fresh funding round. The San Francisco-based company, which was valued at $1 billion in January, raised $175 million in a funding round led by Greenoaks Capital. Sierra is focused on helping enterprises like home security company ADT , Sonos , Weight Watchers and Casper personalize and implement AI agents for customer service. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the band’s front man, Chris Martin, confirmed that the seven-time Grammy Award-winning group will retire after the release of its 12th studio album. “We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real,” Martin told Lowe. ☆ GLAAD finds overall decline in LGBTQ representation in major studio films

GLAAD, the LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has released its 12th annual Studio Responsibility Index tracking films released during 2023. Despite “a huge increase in LGBTQ characters who were front and center in their own narratives,” the study found the number of films with LGBTQ characters dropped in 2023. The survey looked at 256 films from 10 major distributors and their subsidiaries and streaming services. Those 70 films included 170 LGBTQ characters, of which 46% were characters of color, representing an increase of 6% from the 2022 study. If LGBTQ representation continues to decline in major releases, these companies will lose relevance with a crucial buying audience.

Almost half the population of East Timor, the most Catholic nation outside Vatican City, attended a Mass presided over by Pope Francis on Tuesday on the third leg of his Asia trip. L'Oreal says it is working with start-ups and research institutions to bioprint skin that can actually "feel." PARIS, France — French beauty and cosmetics giant L'Oreal is working on a form of synthetically produced skin that it says will one day be able to "feel" like we do. At the Viva Technology conference in Paris last week, L'Oreal showed off demonstrations of "bioprinting," technology that can 3D print humanlike skin, in action. L'Oreal says it ceased testing its products on animals back in 1989, long before it was required by regulation. We're doing it internally but also working with external partners as well," Balooch told CNBC at the firm's booth at VivaTech.
