The rooftop terrace atop Paris' only skyscraper, Montparnasse Tower, has 360-degree city views and tons of space to spread out. It's scheduled to open later this year, and it's a must-see if you're visiting Paris for the first time.

I fell in love with the Louvre one morning while doing disco moves to Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough” in the Salle des Cariatides. The museum, a former medieval fortress and then royal palace, had not yet opened, and I was following instructions to catwalk and hip bump and point in the grand room where Louis XIV once held plays and balls. The sun cast warm light through long windows, striping the pink-and-white checkered floor and bathing the marble arms, heads and wings of the ancient Grecian statues around me. “Point, and point, and point,” shouted Salim Bagayoko, a dance instructor. So I struck my best John Travolta poses and pointed around the room, my eyes landing on the delicate sandaled foot of Artemus, the wings of a Niobid and the stone penis of Apollo.

☆ ‘Rear View,’ a Show About Butts, Is Forward Thinking

The four art dealers who trade together as LGDR have opened a gallery on East 64th Street with a preposterous inaugural exhibition — but before you take that the wrong way, remember the etymology. Preposterous, adjective: from the Latin prae-, meaning “before,” and posterus, or “coming after.” Something preposterous is turned the wrong way. …I had better stop; “Rear View,” with more than 60 paintings, sculptures and photographs of human figures facing the more interesting way, invites a preposterous amount of wordplay. Many of the artists in “Rear View” channel their backward glances through the classical ideal. Michelangelo Pistoletto, the Arte Povera artist, places a concrete copy of the Aphrodite of Knidos in a pile of trash.

In the 2099 London imagined by “The Peripheral,” the Gherkin, the Eye and the Strand have all survived. So has kitsch: A 1,000-foot Venus de Milo shadows Big Ben. (“Winged Victory” is elsewhere, along with gargantuan versions of the Discobolus of Myron and the David of Michelangelo). Some institutions seem to have simply vanished: You can rent out Buckingham Palace for company parties, if you can assemble enough humans for a party. Whatever has gone on since the year 2032, it hasn’t been good.
