Google is trying to make cloud computing more affordable with a custom-built Arm -based server chip. With the new Arm-based chip, Google is playing catch-up with rivals such as Amazon and Microsoft, which have been employing a similar strategy for years. Google has used Arm-based server computers for internal purposes to run YouTube advertising, the BigTable and Spanner databases and the BigQuery data analytics tool. Arm chips, which are popular in smartphones, offer a shorter set of instructions than x86 chips, which are commonly found in PCs. Axion offers 30% better performance than the fastest general-purpose Arm-based virtual machines in the cloud and 50% better performance than than comparable VMs based on x86, Google said.

CNN —Virgin Galactic is grounded after the company said a small part unintentionally detached from the mothership of its rocket-powered space plane on its latest space tourism flight. The flight, called Galactic 06, launched on January 26 and marked Virgin Galactic’s first space tourism mission of the year after entering commercial service in 2023. The company discovered the part loss during routine checks and notified government regulators on January 31, “in accordance with regulations,” Virgin Galactic said in a statement. Virgin Galactic said it will work alongside the Federal Aviation Administration, which licenses commercial rocket launches, on a review of the issue. “Virgin Galactic flights occur in restricted airspace and at specific geographical launch locations that control the hazards to people or structures on the ground,” Virgin Galactic’s statement reads.

În aceste condiții, autoritățile Republicii Moldova trebuie să regândească și să consolideze relația diaspora-țară, creând mai multe oportunități pentru implicarea activă a cetățenilor aflați peste hotare în dezvoltarea durabilă a Republicii Moldova. Aceasta, în combinație cu fenomenul de emigrare a familiilor întregi și a peste 144 mii de dosare noi de redobândire a cetățenii românești, ar putea conduce la o scădere a remitențelor în următorii ani. Se observă că proporția remitențelor per PIB scade, în timp ce proporția diasporei în totalul populației crește. Pentru aceasta, am dezvoltat un model autoregresiv vectorial bazat pe (a) creșterea anuală a PIB-ului per capita; (b) consumul final al gospodăriilor per PIB, (c) investițiile străine direct per PIB, (d) balanța de plăți per PIB și (e) remitențe per PIB.
