The Senate on Wednesday resoundingly rejected a series of three resolutions to block weapons transfers to Israel, but the move to curtail American support for the war in Gaza drew substantial support from Democrats, reflecting growing consternation in the party over the conflict. Seventeen Senate Democrats and two independents backed at least one of the measures, a display of deepening divisions over Israel’s conduct after 13 months of war and the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinians. The measures were offered by Senator Bernie Sanders, independent of Vermont, who has been a vocal critic of Israel’s tactics in the war. He has also been a frequent critic of the Biden administration for continuing to support Israel militarily despite ample evidence of human rights violations in Gaza. In the days since the election, he has also argued that the administration’s Israel policy is partially to blame for the Democrats’ election losses.

But the decline in support for Ms. Harris in some of the country’s most liberal areas is particularly notable. AUBURN, Ala. — A flight carrying the No. 11 Auburn basketball team was grounded shortly after takeoff on Friday after two players got into a fight onboard, according to multiple reports. “We had two players that got into a physical altercation, clothes were ripped,” the pilot was heard saying to air traffic controllers in audio obtained by WBRC-TV. The pilot told air traffic controllers that police were called, according to the audio. The fight was broken up before it became anything serious and a replacement flight departed Friday night, ESPN reported.

CNN —A plane carrying the Auburn men’s basketball team had to be diverted following an altercation on the flight, according to CNN affiliate WBRC. According to WBRC, the pilot requested an emergency landing in Montgomery, Alabama. Per ESPN, the apparent scuffle was over before it became a serious situation, but the flight personnel decided to divert back to Auburn. Auburn was still expecting to travel to Houston on Friday night, according to ESPN. The Tigers are 1-0 on the season following a blowout win over Vermont earlier this week.

Americans disappointed with the outcome of the U.S. election took their anguish online, with searches related to moving abroad surging following the results of the presidential race. Google Trends showed that searches related to "leaving the country" and "how to move to …" spiked following the news that Donald Trump would be returning to the White House. CNN —Republican Sen. Deb Fischer will win reelection in Nebraska, defeating an unexpectedly strong challenge from independent Dan Osborn, CNN projects. Fischer was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when she became the first female senator elected to a full term in Nebraska. Fischer, who will begin her third Senate term in January, said she changed her mind after realizing how important seniority is for members of Congress. Former President Donald Trump also sought to tie Osborn to the left in his endorsement of Fischer. The state also held a special Senate election to fill the other seat left vacant by Republican Ben Sasse’s resignation.
