A police statement said that the operation followed a request for assistance from university authorities in the town of Komotini. It said the protesters staging the occupation in the law school had prevented about 400 students due to take exams on Monday from entering the building, as well as university staff. But the provision included a crucial requirement: that the cooperating universities’ admissions processes be “need-blind,” meaning they could not factor in whether a prospective student was wealthy enough to pay. My counselor told me it would be difficult to get into Yale because of Asian American prejudice. As an Asian American student with a 3.7 unweighted GPA, he said, I had no chance of getting into such a prestigious university. But for myself and fellow Asian American applicants, it was an ever-present obstacle to overcome. At every turn, I was reminded that I was competing against other, more-qualified Asian American students and that I was fighting to defy rampant stereotypes. Everyone around me told me that this was a nearly impossible accomplishment as an Asian American student, especially one with my grades.

The Fifth Circuit blocked Biden's new rules to ease the debt relief process for defrauded borrowers. The changes to borrower defense are now blocked as the legal process plays out. The rules would create a more streamlined application process for borrowers seeking debt relief, along with expanding the types of misconduct that would qualify a borrower for a loan discharge. "Defrauded borrowers are legally entitled to relief and their institutions should be held accountable," he said. For now, the department's new rules for borrower defense will be blocked as the legal process proceeds.
