The submarine Rostov-on-Don was hit in the port of Sevastopol on Friday, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces said in a statement Saturday. “The boat sank on the spot,” the General Staff said, without providing further evidence. The submarine was “severely damaged” in a Ukrainian missile attack in September 2023, according to Ukraine’s General Staff. CNN —Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has tapped Rustem Umerov, a Crimean Tatar, to become his next defense minister, replacing Oleksii Reznikov at a critical time for Ukraine’s counteroffensive. He was on his day off and mowing grass in Shchetinovka, a rural locality in Belgorod, when the drone attack struck, per Baza. "I would say that I was somewhat surprised" by Russia's inability to control the air and knock out Ukrainian air defenses, Hecker said. The company is part of an incubator that includes 100s of projects making military tech for Ukraine. Misha Rudominski, the cofounder of Himera Tech, which makes jam-resistant radio handsets, told Bloomberg that his technology "wouldn't defeat US or Chinese electronic warfare systems, but it doesn't need to. Himera Tech is part of a Ukrainian government incubator that has hundreds of projects making military technology. Himera Tech started working on its headsets after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, trying to make more affordable models for Ukraine's military to use.
