The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the organization behind the World Happiness Report, uses six factors to score countries' happiness: social support, income, health, freedom, generosity and absence of corruption. The WEF compares countries' gender gaps across four dimensions: economic opportunities; educational attainment; health and survival; and political empowerment. It's no coincidence that the world's happiest countries also champion gender equality socially and economically. How Nordic countries use social policies to promote gender equality and happinessIn its research, the WEF establishes a clear correlation between social policies, families' happiness and women's career advancement. The Nordic countries — Iceland, Sweden, Finland and Norway — have some of the most generous paid leave policies for parents in the world.

The number of positive experiences saw some recovery in 2022, according to the report. Positive experiences had remained relatively stable in previous years, but dropped in 2021, according to Julie Ray, managing editor for world news at Gallup. The good news is that the rate of negative experiences didn’t go up in 2022. And while there are victories in the increase of positive experiences, it is not necessarily time for celebration, she added. Finland is paying for people to visit the country so they can learn how to be happy. The Visit Finland organization will fly 14 people to the country's lake district for a masterclass. The country's happiness masterclass, run by the Visit Finland organization, takes place in the scenic lake district at the Kuru Resort next month. Visit Finland plans to cover all travel and accommodation expenses, including a private room and access to a traditional Finnish sauna and spa. Visit Finland's happiness masterclass has received a flood of interest, organizers say.
The World Happiness Report released its annual ranking of the happiest countries in the world and for the sixth year in a row Finland has landed in the top spot. "This gap is small in countries where almost everyone is very unhappy, and in the top countries where almost no one is unhappy," the report states. This year's ranking is similar to those in the past, with the same Nordic countries taking the top three spots. Finland is willing to share its wisdom: It's offering a free "masterclass of happiness" to help travelers find their "inner Finn." The United States didn't rank in the top 10 on the list, but it did land at No.
