The Chinese EV giant said in its third-quarter earnings on Wednesday it had surpassed Tesla's revenues from EV sales for the first time. Executives have said they want half of BYD's sales to come from abroad in the future. Unlike its rival, Tesla, BYD also offers a selection of hybrid vehicles, which are popular in China. Some 311,000 of the 500,000 passenger vehicles BYD sold in October were hybrids, with hybrid sales rising by 62% year-on-year. BYD teased its upcoming electric pickup truck which the Chinese auto giant said it would launch in 2024. BYD plans to launch its first electric pickup truck this year, as the Chinese giant steps up competition with global auto firms, from Ford to Tesla. The midsize-to-large pickup truck has been developed for the global market, BYD said in a press release. The pickup will look to compete with the likes of the Ford Ranger and F-150 Lightning, the Toyota Hilux and the Tesla Cybertruck. BYD doesn't sell in the U.S., the most popular market for pickup trucks, but it has a presence in other popular markets for this type of vehicle, including in Thailand.

However, veteran investor and trader Adam Reynolds says it's time to look beyond the U.S. and consider 10 lesser-known companies from across Europe, Japan and Australia. "The focus on U.S. tech stocks — and especially the Magnificent Seven — is driving huge amounts of performance to the U.S. stock market. Calling valuations of U.S. stocks "stretched," Reynolds said there are opportunities in moving toward a "more diversified global portfolio," including better valuations — and returns. In terms of allocation, Reynolds suggests that investors put 30% of their equities portfolio in U.S. stocks, 40% in Asia and 30% in Europe. Chip stocks Shares of semiconductor manufacturer Tokyo Electron are up over 140% over the last 12 months.

Six years ago, Elon Musk hyped a next-generation Roadster, the name of Tesla's debut car from 2008. A refreshed version was never produced, but Musk is once again promising a new Roadster is on the way. "Tonight, we radically increased the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster," Musk wrote on X as part of a series of posts Tuesday night. Musk first promoted the next-generation Roadster concept in June 2018 in a series of tweets. He said at that time, "SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car."

Forget Tesla , the real competition in electric vehicles is low-cost Chinese automakers. Farley wants to be prepared even if the U.S. government were to step in to curtail Chinese automakers' access. Outlook Ford investors shouldn't be concerned in the short term since Chinese EV competitors won't enter the market overnight. To that end, a group of lawmakers has urged the White House to boost tariffs on Chinese vehicles and figure out a way to be "prepared to address the coming wave" of Chinese vehicles by way of U.S. other trading partners. The cost of production will become more efficient, resulting in a more competitive and hopefully profitable Ford EV product.

Its new all-electric Yangwang U9 has nearly 1,300 horspower and is designed to compete directly with Lamborghini and Ferrari. As an electric supercar, the Yangwang U9 combines power and performance similar to a 1,800-horsepower, $2 million Rimac Nevera, but in a package costing less than gasoline-powered cars from the famous Italian automakers. Chinese Tesla rival BYD showed the world just that on Monday. In a video from a BYD event posted to Twitter, its upcoming Yangwang U9 can be seen dancing and bobbing side to side as it slowly drives across the stage. It looks a lot like a feature in some Mercedes SUVs that makes the vehicle bounce vigorously up and down.
