Twitch has revised its “Hateful Content Policy” to include “Zionist” as a potential slur following mounting criticism over Israel-Gaza war content on the platform. “We recognize that ‘Zionist’ and ‘Zionism’ also refer to a political movement,” Twitch wrote in its blog post. “Using the term to refer to the political movement, whether in a supportive or critical way, does not violate our Hateful Conduct policy. Compared to other online platforms, Twitch had largely dodged controversies involving content over the war between Israel and Gaza — until this fall, when criticism online toward the platform began to escalate. In October, Twitch was accused of disabling sign-ups for the platform from some users in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Today, dexerto.com attracts 30 million monthly visitors, it said — a formidable sum, though less than 30-year-old stalwarts like IGN and GameSpot, which clocked 98 million and 69 million monthly visits in September, according to the web-analytics firm Similarweb. Direct-ad sales account for about half of revenue, with programmatic ads (30%) and social monetization (20%) making up the rest. Nino said Dexerto had been mostly bootstrapped — aside from about £257,000 in seed funding — and had been profitable since 2016.

A foam pit at TwitchCon reportedly left two streamers injured, one seriously. Legal experts told Insider the injuries could result in massive lawsuits. The incidents occurred at a Lenovo and Intel booth during a combat game, where contestants play-battled with foam noodles on perches atop a foam pit. The foam pit continued to operate on Sunday morning, NBC reported, but closed at noon. A Twitch spokesperson told Insider Lenovo owned and operated the booth but declined to comment further.
