Almost 30 years ago to the day, Susan Smith made international headlines when she said she was carjacked late at night near Union, South Carolina, by a Black man. Smith, now 53, has had an eventful three decades behind bars in South Carolina, including multiple disciplinary actions. Kendra Panteah, 37, pleaded guilty Friday to one count of kidnapping not resulting in death in federal court in Albuquerque, according to court records. Another man, Gilbert John Jr., fatally stabbed the victim, the prosecutor's office said. Panteah said the two other people got out as she drove to Gallup with the man still locked in the trunk, according to the plea agreement. They stopped at Bass Lake, which is where the victim began breaking out of the trunk and John stabbed him repeatedly with a machete, Panteah and prosecutors said. He and Panteah sat on the trunk of the car until the victim stopped moving, according to Panteah's plea agreement.

Despite Aurora becoming a regular talking point at his rallies, a Trump campaign spokesperson declined to specify when or if the former president would visit the city. CNN —Scientists have discovered a new species of ghost shark that lives in deep ocean waters near Australia and New Zealand. A deep water animal, the ghost shark is scientifically known as chimaera and is closely related to sharks and rays. “Ghost sharks like this one are largely confined to the ocean floor, living in depths of up to 2,600m (8,530 feet). The ghost shark was found at a depth of around 1,200 meters (about 3,900 feet) on the Chatham Rise. “We don’t actually know a lot about ghost sharks,” Finucci told CNN at the time.

It's "another step in the fashion space," Bonnet-Masimbert said, and a hint of how the company hopes to progress in the coming years. For a company so synonymous with luggage, it was an "interesting challenge," the CEO said — one that took three years to develop. "We feel we are very legitimate in that space, and that opens a lot of future product offerings," Bonnet-Masimbert said.
