Carlos Barria | ReutersU.S. President-elect Donald Trump's ongoing pursuit of Greenland may have raised the hackles of Denmark, which retains sovereignty over the Arctic island, but his territorial ambitions seem to be gaining traction in an unlikely quarter: Russia. On Tuesday, Trump doubled-down on those comments and said he would not rule out using force to take Greenland, as well as the Panama Canal. Other pro-Kremlin pundits on the panel said Trump's ambitions validated Russia's decision to launch its own "special military operation" against Ukraine. That sentiment was reiterated by Greenland following Trump's comments in December, with Prime Minister Mute Egede saying: "We are not for sale and we will not be for sale" and that "Greenland belongs to the people of Greenland." Hours after Trump's comments in December, Copenhagen announced it would increase defense spending on Greenland to give it a "stronger presence in the Arctic."

Also known as IEEPA, the act allows the president to oversee imports in a period of national crisis. CNN's sources noted that a final decision has not been reached on whether Trump will declare a national emergency. Trump pitched taxes on imports frequently on the campaign trail, calling at times for fees of 60% or more on Chinese products. The Washington Post reported Monday that Trump would narrow the focus of his tariffs, an approach Wall Street seems to favor.

Now the criminal cases against him are in jeopardy — the two federal prosecutions have already been dismissed, while the two state cases are stalled — and appeals courts might whittle down the hefty civil judgments against him. Trump challenged the $5 million civil verdict alleging the trial judge made numerous errors, including allowing testimony of two other women who claimed Trump sexually assaulted them. CNN —As US President-elect Donald Trump continues to make heads turn with nominations for key roles in his incoming administration, Russians are trying to understand the appointments and what impacts they might have for Moscow. Waltz also described Russia as “a gas station with nukes” in an interview with NPR on November 4. CNN —President-elect Donald Trump has moved swiftly to announce his selections for his next Cabinet and key administration posts. Since CNN projected on November 6 that Trump would win election for a second term, the incoming president has announced more than a dozen choices to lead key agencies and policy areas.
