Formula 1 has two new team names this season, which follow a trend in the sport to focus on marketing: Visa Cash App RB Formula One Team and Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. Sauber Motorsport has been racing since 1993 under various names, most recently as Alfa Romeo. “Before Audi’s arrival, we felt it was important to present ourselves with this new identity and to have a commercial partnership in place,” said Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the Stake team representative. “The Sauber Group has been in Formula 1 for 32 years, but this doesn’t mean we have forgotten what Sauber is. “The reality is that we said from the outset last year that we would move closer to the Red Bull family.”

Visa has taken over the title sponsorship of Red Bull's second team, which has been called Scuderia AlphaTauri since 2020 when Red Bull put its fashion label on its two junior cars. The team said Wednesday it will be called Visa Cash App RB F1 Team when Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda start the season. The team was known as Scuderia Toro Rosso — the Italian translation of Red Bull — from its 2006 debut season until 2020. Visa's deal with Red Bull is for three years, its senior vice president of global sponsorship strategy told The Associated Press. Visa becomes the third billion-dollar American company to join Red Bull as a sponsor in the last two years; Oracle is the title sponsor of the main two Red Bull cars, while Hard Rock International also launched a partnership.

The seven times world champion also told Sky Italy that he was "no more impressed" with the Red Bull driver's achievements than he had been when other champions were winning and dominating. "In my personal opinion, Valtteri and all of my team mates have been stronger than the team mates that Max has had. Hamilton was beaten by 2009 world champion Button in 2011, by Rosberg in 2016 when the German took the title and by Russell in 2022. None of Verstappen's team mates have been world champions.

CNN —Daniel Ricciardo is making a surprising mid-season return to the Formula One grid, with the Australian driver replacing the struggling Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri. Ricciardo, currently a Red Bull reserve driver, is being sent “on loan” to Red Bull’s feeder team for the remainder of the 2023 season, the team announced Tuesday. The 34-year-old, who will race for AlphaTauri in the next grand prix in Hungary on July 23, said he was “stoked to be back on track with the Red Bull family,” according to the F1 website. “It was great to see Daniel hasn’t lost any form while away from racing and that the strides he has been making in his SIM sessions translate on track,” Red Bull team principle Christian Horner said. After a fast start to the season, Perez has made the podium just once in the last five races.

June 20 (Reuters) - Australian Daniel Ricciardo has raised the possibility of racing again for Red Bull as a 'fairytale' ending to his Formula One career. The 33-year-old is spending a year on the sidelines as Red Bull reserve after being replaced at McLaren by compatriot Oscar Piastri. Ricciardo raced for Red Bull from 2014 to 2018, winning seven races, after two seasons with sister team Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) from 2012-13. "Honestly, the fairytale ending (would be) to finish my career here (at Red Bull) if I could have it all my own way," he said. Ricciardo has been working in the simulator and will drive the Red Bull car at a Silverstone tyre test after next month's British Grand Prix.

He was the second senior team member to head for the exit since Mattia Binotto was replaced by Frenchman Vasseur in January. "I think it’s a mega opportunity for Laurent," Vasseur told reporters at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. "The group is there, we are recruiting massively -- that we are not communicating but we are recruiting massively -- and we will do step by step. Vasseur recognised Mekies' current role was 'quite large" and said it could ultimately be split in two, as some other teams have done.
