TURIN/AMSTERDAM, Nov 30 (Reuters) - The CEO of Exor NV (EXOR.AS), the largest shareholder in Dutch healthcare equipment maker Philips NV (PHG.AS), on Thursday said he continues to believe the company's problems are solvable. Exor owns a 15% stake in Philips. The recall wiped nearly two-thirds off Philips' stock market valuation and new CEO Roy Jakobs has said that resolving the issue is his top priority. Philips stock is currently trading at 18.77 euros, about 25 cents higher than before Exor announced its investment in August. Exor is the investment arm of Italy's Agnelli family, with investments in manufacturing, sport, media, fashion, healthcare and technology companies.

Core headlines earnings is a nonstandard measure the company says best reflects its group operating performance. It includes the massive stake Prosus owns in China's Tencent (0700.HK), which the company said has been sold down from 26.2% to 25% to fund a rolling share buyback program. Prosus says share buybacks benefit shareholders because the Tencent stake, now worth $98 billion, is worth about 30% more than Prosus itself.

Last November, Dutch magistrates accepted a European investigation order (OIE) sent by Italy allowing Italian prosecutors to question two former Booking.com chief financial officers as part of the investigation. Private accommodation sites which are not professionally run often have no VAT number, and Italian tax authorities believe the online travel agency should in such cases act as a withholding agent, collecting tax. In another similar case involving a company's responsibility to collect tax on behalf of tax authorities, an Italian judge on Monday seized 780 million euros from short-term rentals platform Airbnb (ABNB.O).

AMSTERDAM, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Several Dutch lawmakers on Tuesday challenged the Netherlands' Trade Minister over whether the U.S. has acted correctly in unilaterally imposing new rules regulating the export to China of another chipmaking machine made by ASML Holding (ASML.AS). The U.S. last week announced new rules giving Washington the right to restrict the export of Veldhoven-headquartered ASML's Twinscan NXT1930Di machine if it contains any U.S. parts at all. The deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography machine can be used to help make both relatively advanced computer chips as well as mid-range and older chips. The U.S. has pressured the Dutch government not to export any of its most advanced machines to China since 2019, and in June the Dutch government introduced its own licensing requirement for slightly less advanced machines. ASML dominates the market for lithography equipment, used by chipmakers such as TSMC (2330.TW), Samsung (005930.KS) and Intel (INTC.O) to help create the circuitry of chips.

AMSTERDAM, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Making more products for China locally and buying chips from several suppliers are just two of the supply chain changes Dutch healthcare technology firm Philips is making due to rising trade tensions, its CEO Roy Jakobs told Reuters. "Before we were all seeking the optimal global supply chain efficiency," he said. Jakobs took the top job at Philips in 2022 amid a major recall of sleep apnea and respiratory devices. Philips' China business boomed before the pandemic, but that trend is slowing, Jakobs said. "Second, third, fourth tier suppliers in China do a lot for the whole world ...(realistically) there will be a certain continuous dependency on China".

The company reported net profit of 1.9 billion euros ($2.01 billion) for the three months ended Sept. 30, in line with analyst expectations. Net bookings were 2.6 billion euros, compared with third quarter sales of 6.7 billion euros. "Consensus expectations still call for 7% sales growth next year, which should come down today," Stifel analysts said in a note. Dassen said ASML still had an order backlog of 35 billion euros and a strong 2025 would follow an uncertain 2024, given its customers' expansion plans in Asia, the United States and Europe. Dassen said the company did not expect any financial impact from an updated U.S. policy announced Tuesday restricting sales of semiconductor equipment to China.

He added that the export restrictions impact around 15% of ASML's sales to China, which is the company's third-largest market after Taiwan and South Korea.
