Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been keeping track of every report I see about major budget shortfalls at universities. Brittany Commisso, left, alleges in a lawsuit that former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo harassed her. Photo: CBS This Morning/Times Union/Associated PressA former executive assistant to Andrew Cuomo has sued the former New York governor for sexual harassment. Brittany Commisso alleges, according to a three-page summons filed earlier this week, that her ex-boss subjected her to continuous harassment, including groping her, making sexualized comments about her appearance, and assigning her “humiliating and demeaning tasks.”

CNN —A former aide to ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who previously claimed Cuomo groped her breast, is filing a lawsuit against him alleging sexual harassment and abuse, according to a summons filed this week. Commisso’s claims are provably false, which is why the Albany District Attorney dismissed the case two years ago after a thorough investigation,” Cuomo attorney Rita Glavin told CNN in a statement. The report triggered the eventual resignation of Cuomo, which he announced on August 10, 2021, a week after it was released. According to the state’s report, Commisso told investigators Cuomo grabbed her buttocks during hugs and a photo. Commisso claims she was demoted by the then lieutenant governor, now governor, Kathy Hochul, removed from the front office, and moved to the “demeaning task of answering telephones” for Hochul’s office, according to the document.

Anthony Capone, CEO of DocGo, falsely claimed to have a degree in artificial intelligence in his company profile. Clarkson University confirmed to Insider that there is no record of the CEO earning a degree there. Capone acknowledged that his profile contained false information in a statement to the Times Union on Thursday. Specifically, it has come to my attention that my public biography erroneously states that I hold a bachelor's degree from Clarkson University. "I must clarify immediately: I do not have a master's degree from Clarkson University nor from any other institution.

DocGo was already under scrutiny when its no-bid contract with New York City came to light, prompting questions about what services the company was providing — as well as the quality of those services. Neither the company nor city officials were willing to voluntarily disclose details of the contract. Earlier this month, New York City Comptroller Brad Lander said there were “numerous outstanding issues and concerns” that prompted him to reject the city's $432 million no-bid emergency contract with DocGo. DocGo began as a medical services company, describing itself on its website as delivering “high-quality medical care outside traditional hospital or clinic settings across our service lines: Mobile Health Care, Medical Transportation and Remote Patient Monitoring/Chronic Disease Management. The company has been trying to land a lucrative contract, valued in the billions of dollars, with the federal government

A new lawsuit claims Sazerac is misleading consumers that its 99 cent "Fireball Cinnamon" product contains whisky. The product, which debuted in 2020, contains malt liquor flavored to taste like whisky. The suit claims the company created the "overall misleading impression" that it contains whisky. "It's not actual Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. It's a malt-beverage version called simply Fireball Cinnamon.
Last week, the New York Times union said it would go on strike Thursday if a contract deal wasn’t reached by then. More than 1,000 New York Times staffers vowed not to work on Thursday, its newsroom union said, marking the first strike in over 40 years at the organization. The one-day work stoppage comes as contract negotiations between management and the members of the NewsGuild, which represents 1,450 Times staffers—including 1,270 newsroom employees—have stalled for nearly two years over pay and benefits. Both sides were still negotiating on Wednesday, but they both said talks ended early in the evening.
Elon Musk joked that the New York Times union strike on Thursday is "Woke v Woke." New York Times staffers are staging a 24-hour walkout to protest over pay. The contract between the Times and the Times' Guild expired in March 2021 and over 40 bargaining sessions have been held since, the Times reported. Musk released his "Twitter Files" on Friday which showed internal communications between the 2020 Biden presidential campaign and Twitter executives. Musk responded: "That is because The New York Times has become, for all intents and purposes, an unregistered lobbying firm for far left politicians."
loadingThe NYTimes NewsGuild last week had pledged to walk out on Dec. 8 if a contract was not reached by then. The union said the New York Times during a meeting earlier in the day refused to meet for additional negotiating sessions to resolve the contract dispute by Thursday. The New York Times in an emailed statement to Reuters said the union's claims were inaccurate and negotiations were ongoing. The union said that the walkout would be the first full-day work stoppage at the New York Times since the late 1970s. Tech employees of the Times voted last March to unionize and have been trying separately to negotiate their first contract.
Dec 2 (Reuters) - More than 1,000 union employees at the New York Times Co (NYT.N) have pledged to walk out if the news publisher does not agree to a "complete and equitable contract" by Dec. 8, according to a tweet by the union on Friday. "We will walk out and stop work for 24 hours, on Thursday, Dec. 8, if we do not have a deal for a complete and equitable contract by then," the letter read. The members of the union are also asking for remote work flexibility, among other demands. Earlier in March, a group of nearly 600 tech employees at the New York Times voted to unionize as the company faced claims it unlawfully interfered with labor organizing. read moreReporting by Tiyashi Datta in Bengaluru; Editing by Shailesh Kuber and Rosalba O'BrienOur Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
Will reporters at The New York Times really go on strike? The idea, unthinkable just a few months ago, is now on the lips of New York Times Guild members as the union's contract negotiations with management heat up. New York Times reporters have walked off the job before, like as part of a 1962-1963 citywide newspaper strike. But Robles said union members are upset that the Times' strong business footing has not translated into better pay. (The Times spokesperson countered that the paper was not seeing record profits).
