According to the UNESCO study, 62% of surveyed creators said they don’t vet the accuracy of content before sharing it with their followers. The study comes in the wake of the 2024 US presidential election, in which social media influencers played a key role as an information source for voters. During the campaign, President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris harnessed social media influencers and podcasters with millions of followers, including Joe Rogan and Alex Cooper, to appeal directly to voters. And a separate survey from Pew found that more than half of American adults “at least sometimes” get their news from social media. Online influencers generally do not rely on official sources of information, such as government-issued reports and documents, the UNESCO study found.

Opinion | Flattery as Trump Management Strategy

One of the things that has been clear with Donald Trump’s win this time is how different it is: no shock wave jolting society. This is, according to polling, one of the presidential election outcomes most widely accepted as legitimate of the past 25 years. On the public level, we’re back in business in some way, back to an earlier pre-Trump era of normal relations, strategic silence, public deference and an antiseptic corporate friendliness — a bit of flattery, at times, for Mr. Trump. Tim Cook, the Apple C.E.O., wrote on X on Nov. 6: “Congratulations President Trump on your victory! “We didn’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues and we told him so,” Joe Scarborough said.

Carpenter Technology has multiple avenues of growth over the next few years, according to JPMorgan. Analyst Bennett Moore initiated coverage of the U.S.-based stainless steel and alloys manufacturer with an overweight rating and a price target of $220. "Shares have rallied ... on the back of strong demand, solid execution, and an attractive earnings outlook, and we feel the company is well positioned to capture further upside," Moore said in a Thursday note. Moore's investment thesis is built on the company's robust demand for its mostly customer-specific premium products, which he said gives Carpenter strong pricing power and supported its position as an "indispensable supplier." Sexual misconduct allegations against Matt Gaetz had drawn scrutiny after Mr. Trump said he wanted to nominate him for attorney general. Mr. Trump moved quickly to replace Mr. Gaetz with another conservative favorite. Federal prosecutors ultimately dropped the case against Mr. Gaetz, but their chart of payments was obtained by the ethics committee, which was investigating whether Mr. Gaetz had sex with the woman when she was underage. After she turned 18, Mr. Gaetz paid for sex with her on at least two other occasions, the person said. Munster, managing partner at Deepwater Asset Management, said he isn't holding his breath for an Apple TV. Munster said it's still a "painful topic" since he spent a lot of time looking into the Apple TV and was emphatic that it would happen. However, in 2014, another author, Yukari Iwatani Kane, wrote in "Haunted Empire: Apple After Steve Jobs" that Jobs told Apple employees in 2010 that a TV set wasn't happening. The lesson Munster learned about a company assembling a team and putting resources behind projects that may remain on the shelf continues to apply.
