☆ Stained-glass Tiffany window sells for record $12.48 million at auction

CNN —A stained-glass Tiffany window originally designed for an Ohio church has sold for $12.48 million at auction. This is the first time the window has come to auction in 24 years and the sale sets a new auction record for Tiffany Studios. It sold for $2 million back in 2000, which was a world record for a Tiffany window at that time. That was the “thematic precursor” for the Danner Memorial Window 10 years later, Sotheby’s said in a press statement. The museum acquired Garden Landscape, designed in 1912, a three-part window designed by Northrop, last year.

CNN —The annual gala for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures raised both money and the profiles of the many entertainment figures who attended. John Travolta presented Tarantino, his “Pulp Fiction” director, with the Luminary Award. “Mugler 🤍🪽+ Tiffany’s 💎 for the Academy Museum Gala,” reads the caption on a series of photos showing her snatched in a white bustier with a matching coat and stunning jewelry. “They’re just two friends…two good friends…two best friends sharing one wonderful night at the Academy Museum,” the caption on the photos of Grande and Erivo reads. CNN —The stereotypical “cat lady” is one of pop culture’s most bizarre characters — and easiest punching bags. And though Vance’s description of “cat lady” didn’t include “crazy,” madness has been associated with “cat ladies” for over a century. “There is something about the independence of cats, something I like about them, which can be linked with a suspicion of independent women,” said Alice Madicott, whose book “Cat Women” prods the “crazy cat lady” stereotype. Capote, a famous American writer and novelist, was born in New Orleans in 1924 and died in 1984. “Then in a red notebook, there was a handwritten short story from Truman Capote. “The whole work of finding these unpublished works is something which I have to say is satisfying when it comes to fruition. New York CNN —A fire near Tiffany & Co.’s newly renovated flagship store in New York City sent smoke pouring out of the building on Thursday. Firefighters responded to a transformer fire that began in an electrical vault next to the jewelry store’s 5th Avenue location in Manhattan. Videos on social media showed dark plumes of smoke coming out of the historic building and spilling into the street. The fire comes just over two months after Tiffany officially reopened the doors of its 10-floor limestone flagship shop. The 5th Avenue flagship accounted for 10% of the brand’s global sales before it closed for renovations.

As a young tycoon living in New York in the 1980s, Bernard Arnault quickly realized some of the most valuable real estate was located on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street.
