To me, one unexpected food is at the top of the list of traditional ingredients: honey. On Ikaria, it's considered one of the island's secret ingredients for longevity, and many Ikarians start their day with a spoonful. I like corned beef and cabbage myself for the holiday — Irish American food to ship up to Boston with, soda bread on the side. For you, then, this incredible bourbon-braised beef (above) that Vallery Lomas developed for us. The whiskey adds a fantastic complexity to a cheap cut of boneless beef chuck burbled with maple syrup, caramelized tomato paste, thyme, bay leaves and hints of both soy sauce and lemon juice. It’s as Irish as Carmela Soprano, but I’d serve it to your ma tonight with no misgivings. (Save the leftover braising liquid to make French onion soup.)

New York CNN —One brand of hydrogen peroxide mouthwash is being recalled nationwide for posing a potential poisoning risk for children. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced February 29 that Heritage Store Hydrogen Peroxide Mouthwash is being recalled for a lack of child-resistant packaging required for products containing a certain concentration of ethanol. Flavors being recalled include eucalyptus mint and wintermint, sold in brown bottles with a white lid. The mouthwash has been sold in stores such as Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, Mom’s Organic Market, New Season’s Market and Mother’s Market & Kitchen. Getting chicken breasts right is a flex, but a tricky one. The delicate white meat, so low in fat, can go from supple to chalky in only one distracted, phone-checking, heartbreaking minute. Pierre Franey’s five-star recipe for chicken breasts with lemon solves this problem by searing the chicken quickly on both sides until golden brown and then building a sauce in the same skillet. The pan sauce is rich and tangy, filled with shallots, thyme, two full teaspoons of grated lemon zest and, of course, butter (a French cook’s answer to most things). And the chicken emerges tender and redolent of citrus and herbs.

All the veggies tasted delicious and maintained their texture, even when I ate leftovers a few days later. I also loved the burst of freshness from the spinach and thyme and how the soup still tasted healthy and light. So, if you're under the weather or just feeling blue, I recommend a big bowl of Garten's comforting and colorful winter minestrone soup.

New York CNN —With sales of non-alcoholic beverages recently becoming a nearly half-billion dollar industry, even Target is becoming sober curious. Drinks in the lineup include two celebrity-backed companies: Kin Euphorics, a trendy brand co-founded by model Bella Hadid, and Katy Perry’s De Soi, which makes non-alcoholic apéritifs. Other brands include NOPE and Ghia, both of which produce non-alcoholic canned cocktails, and alcohol-free wine company Surely. “Séchey is a great curator of non-alcoholic brands and will help Target to really elevate its offer,” Neil Saunders, retail analyst and managing director at GlobalData Retail, told CNN. That has created a boom in sales for non-alcohol spirits, wine and beer, which surpassed $500 million this year according to research firm NIQ.
