Online election betting platform Polymarket plans to bring its prediction markets back to customers in the United States, on the heels of accurately forecasting the electoral win of President-elect Donald Trump. "I want to give a lot of credit to the people who fought the battle to go and legalize political prediction markets in America," Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan told Andrew Ross Sorkin on "Squawk Box," in his first live TV interview Thursday. Polymarket's betting platforms are currently only available to customers outside of the United States. In 2022, it halted U.S. operations and paid a $1.4 million penalty to settle charges with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission that it had failed to register with the commission. In October, the U.S. Appeals Court for the District of Columbia Circuit lifted a freeze on competitor Kalshi's election contracts that was put on by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.

Former hedge funder David McCormick has narrowed the gap in a closely watched US Senate race. McCormick's Wall Street allies are among the biggest donors to a pro-McCormick super PAC. Jeff Yass is among the big names making a final splash before Election Day. According to a pro-McCormick super PAC's final pre-election filing, Yass donated $1 million over the course of two donations earlier this month. He's not the biggest megadonor with Wall Street ties.

While public auction sales are declining in the art world, private sales — done behind closed doors between discreet buyers and sellers — are growing. Classic cars are also seeing a shift to private sales, especially with the most expensive and rare models. But its newly formed RM Sotheby's private sales division has seen its sales more than quadruple over the past four years, according to Shelby Myers, global head of private sales for RM Sotheby's. The rise in private sales for classic cars, art, real estate and other markets is being driven by social media, technology and cooling prices for collectibles. "They're leaving money on the table," said real estate broker Noble Black of Douglas Elliman.

"I'm here to tell the truth about the Biden-Harris record," Newsom said in the early minutes of the debate. "It was more of a spectacle than a debate," Akhavan said. DeSantis has also taunted Newsom to "throw his hat in the ring" and run for president in 2024 against President Joe Biden. According to a FiveThirtyEight average of national Republican presidential polls, Trump leads 60% while DeSantis sits at 12.6%. In April, a group of wealthy GOP donors appeared to sour on their support for DeSantis, questioning his presidential prospects.

Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley registers for the South Carolina 2024 presidential primary ballot at the South Carolina State House in Columbia, South Carolina, U.S. October 30, 2023. Former United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has a rare chance at Wednesday's debate to reel in undecided wealthy donors who have so far sat on the sidelines of the 2024 presidential election. Haley is surging in the polls, and has pulled even with fellow primary contender Florida Gov. "Haley has stopped short of calling for a national abortion ban, a position that puts her at odds with some members of her party. When asked if he'd consider supporting Haley in the primary, Peterffy said to CNBC, "I will take some time to decide."

Glenn Youngkin isn’t on the ballot this year, but his push for a new conservative direction for the Republican Party is. The discipline extended beyond the 10 candidates Youngkin endorsed in competitive primaries, so as to keep distractions at bay. Virginia Democrats, who would normally use such a post to put the entire GOP in an awkward position, did not apparently even notice. Still, there isn’t a lot of evidence that the Virginia Democratic Party sees Youngkin as any sort of liability for the GOP — he isn’t featured negatively in any of their ads, for example. “What we have found out over the last two years is that that vest-wearing, affable, basketball playing dad is really a MAGA Extremist,” said Virginia Democratic Party Chair Susan Swecker.

Bank of America thinks it's the right time for investors to scoop up shares of Interactive Brokers after its earnings topped analyst estimates earlier this week. Siegenthaler said Interactive is "cheap," adding he's particularly bullish on the company's potential upside after it exceeded Wall Street's earnings expectations earlier this week. IBKR YTD mountain Interactive Brokers in 2023. The analyst listed three reasons he particularly favors Interactive Brokers: The stock as "cheap," trading at 11 times the bank's 2025 earnings-per-share estimate. "Alternatively, given the mostly hedge fund interest in IBKR, we think that a bull market or an improvement in these factors could unlock significant valuation upside potential for IBKR stock," Siegenthaler said.

Ron DeSantis is the favorite Republican candidate among millionaires, although their support for former President Donald Trump is growing, according to the CNBC Millionaire Survey. The share of Republican millionaires backing Trump jumped from 17% at the end of 2022. DeSantis fares better among millionaire independent voters than Trump does, as 20% favor DeSantis and 7% back Trump. In a head-to-head race between Biden and Trump, millionaires still favor Biden by a slim margin. Former Vice President Mike Pence has 10% of Republican millionaires' support, up slightly from 8% in 2022.

Peter Thiel says Ron DeSantis would "make a terrific president." "If he's the Republican nominee, I will strongly support him in 2024," Thiel said. "If he's the Republican nominee, I will strongly support him in 2024," Thiel told podcast host Bari Weiss in an episode of the "Honestly" podcast on Wednesday. Robert Bigelow, a UFO-loving Las Vegas hotel mogul, vowed to "go without food" if that was necessary to fund DeSantis' 2024 run. Thiel did not elaborate in the podcast on whether he plans to give money to DeSantis in the 2024 election cycle.
It does a ton of business in China, which many GOP voters view as a threat to the US. DeSantis already ran on being anti-Disney — and wonTaryn Fenske, DeSantis' communications director, has described the Disney fight as being "the will of Florida voters." And they might not vote for DeSantis if they think the Disney fight is a killer in a general election. Families often work hard and save for years to take their children to Disney World. If DeSantis can't bring a resolution to the Disney fight, can he handle the job of president?
Republican megadonor Peter Thiel is not planning to donate to any 2024 GOP candidates. Sources told Reuters that he's unhappy with the GOP's positions on abortions and transgender rights. One source, a Thiel business associate, said that the GOP's positions on abortion and restrictions on which bathrooms transgender students can use in schools contributed to his decision. Thiel contributed more than $25 million to federal-level GOP candidates in 2022, making him the 10th largest donor to either party in the midterm congressional elections, according to Reuters, which cited OpenSecrets data. The news that Thiel does not intend to contribute to GOP candidates in 2024 follows reports that Republican megadonors are souring on Gov.
Already this month, DeSantis has seen more fellow Florida Republicans back Trump instead of him. April was supposed to be the crescendo for the Florida governor before his widely expected presidential announcement. Instead, DeSantis has been pummeled on all sides, including by many of his fellow Florida Republicans. "Floridians want him focused on Florida," Rep. Greg Steube, yet another Florida Republican who endorsed Trump, told Politico, "which is the job they elected him to do." Last month, DeSantis began to punch back at Trump in a feisty Piers Morgan interview where he stressed that he was a "winner."
