Four people were killed and nine were injured after a minivan crashed into a nail salon on Long Island Friday afternoon, the authorities said.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., a minivan crashed into Hawaii Nail and Spa on Grand Boulevard in Deer Park, a hamlet in the town of Babylon, N.Y., according to according to Mark Stone, the public information officer for the Deer Park Fire Department.
One injured person was in serious condition Friday evening and was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, he said.
The others sustained “significant injuries,” Mr. Stone said, and were taken to local hospitals.
Nine agencies responded to the crash, including fire departments from surrounding towns, and there were 150 firefighters and emergency medical responders on the scene, Mr. Stone said.
