But new research suggests that one English woman convicted of witchcraft and condemned to be hanged may have escaped the noose. Alice Molland – who has long held the tragic record of being the last woman in England to be hanged as a “witch” – was sentenced to death in 1685. In June 1685, Avis Molland – by now widowed – emerges in court records as an informant about a potential revolt, at a time when the Duke of Monmouth was attempting a rebellion against the king. Avis Molland died a free woman eight years later. Worland has spent 18 years unearthing victims’ details, and has successfully campaigned to have memorials to executed “witches” in Colchester and Chelmsford.

The most luxurious experience of them all, however, could be found in the dining car. The latter was the first train car to offer on-board meals, including regional specialties like gumbo, which were prepared in a 3-foot-by-6 foot kitchen. By the 1870s, dining cars could be found on sleeper trains across North America. But this decentralized production model also contained the seed of dining car’s ultimate demise. And despite a revival of interest in train travel on the continent, dining cars (or certainly those equipped with kitchens) are now largely the preserve of tourist services.

New York CNN —Some Instagram posters got a shocking notification from the app Wednesday: Certain photos have been permanently deleted from the app’s Stories archives, unable to be recovered. “We found and fixed a bug that caused some people’s Story highlights and archives to be deleted. Users can upload photos, videos or text posts that disappear in 24 hours. Instagram even shows “memories” in the archives tab, pulling up an old story from what the user did on that day from past years. For important memories, people should ensure they back up photos, videos and other media outside of an app, no matter how trustworthy the company may be.

The Avro Arrow, also known as the CF-105, had a lot resting on its wings. To this day, 65 years later, the Avro Arrow remains one of Canada’s biggest collective regrets and still fuels public discourse, as recently unveiled documents have shed some light on exactly what happened to the doomed project. As a result, thousands of jobs were lost and Avro Canada eventually collapsed entirely. Another says Canadian intelligence analysts deliberately misconstrued information to support a decision that the government had essentially made, providing an excuse for it. “They decided they wanted a big new fancy plane, so they came up with all the operational requirements largely in isolation, without really paying attention to what the reports were saying.”By the late 1950s, he adds, the Arrow arrow was getting very expensive and quite delayed.

Sure, prefab complexes, and especially Soviet bloc housing, could be ugly and too homogenous, but the process created millions of housing units in a flash. Hooked, Rupnik started researching modular housing for his doctoral dissertation.
