CNN —Shelley Duvall, best known for her roles in “The Shining” and several acclaimed Robert Altman films, has died, according to reports, citing a family spokesperson and her longtime partner. Duvall died in her sleep at their home in Blanco, Texas of complications of diabetes, Dan Gilroy, her life partner of more than 30 years, told The Hollywood Reporter. She returned to screens and in 2023 for the horror film “The Forrest Hills.”“I wanted to act again. And then this guy kept calling, and so I wound up doing it,” Duvall quipped in her interview with the Times. “If you ever do a horror film, other horror films are going to come to you, no matter what you do.”

The couple was tired of paying high property taxes and wanted a new adventure in retirement. Sure, the state has no income tax, but when you are retired the property tax is killer. We wanted to live in a place with seasons and that was between our kids' homes in Connecticut and Texas. The county we live in has a property tax exemption for seniors on school taxes, so now we only pay $1,599 a year. SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Charlie Robison, the Texas singer-songwriter whose rootsy anthems made the country charts until he was forced to retire after complications from a medical procedure left him unable to sing, died Sunday. Robison died at a hospital in San Antonio after suffering cardiac arrest and other complications, according to a family representative. In 1996, he released his solo debut, “Bandera,” named for the Texas Hill Country town where his family has had a ranch for generations. When he was approached by Sony in 1998, Robison signed with its Lucky Dog imprint, which was devoted to rawer country. Three of his children were with his first wife, Emily Strayer, a founding member of the superstar country band The Chicks.
