Dutch far-right politician and leader of the PVV party Geert Wilders reacts as he meets the press as Dutch parties' lead candidates meet for the first time after elections, in which far-right politician Geert Wilders booked major gains, to begin coalition talks in The Hague, Netherlands, November 24, 2023. The appointment of Ronald Plasterk, a former Labour party minister, as "scout" to explore possibilities followed a chaotic week in which outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte's conservative VVD party ruled out joining a government led by Wilders - narrowing the options for the election winner. Wilders' PVV was the clear winner in the Nov. 22 election, but with just 24% of the vote it needs support from more moderate parties in order to form a government. Wilders' first pick as scout had to resign before his first meeting after reports he was fighting a fraud charge. The Labour/GreenLeft combination, which was the runner-up in the election, has ruled out working with Wilders in any way.

Verstappen's home Grand Prix, which he is looking to win for a third straight win from pole position on Sunday, is a guaranteed fixture through the 2025 season, but it is unclear what will happen after. "We feel Formula One is very happy with us," former F1 driver Jan Lammers, a Zandvoort native who was one of the driving forces behind the return of the Dutch Grand Prix, told Reuters. The enormous popularity of Verstappen, the first Dutch Formula One champion, has helped sell over 300,000 tickets in an instant every year, but Lammers said Zandvoort's appeal goes beyond its dominant home driver. "Traditionally, a Grand Prix offered just two hours of entertainment on Sunday. This approach was backed by Formula One chief executive Stefano Domenicali ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix.

A court has ruled that a man who has fathered up to 600 children must stop donating sperm. Already banned from donating his sperm in The Netherlands, Meijer must now also contact clinics abroad to have them destroy his samples. Meijer had helped father between 550 and 600 children in the 16 years he had spent donating sperm, judges said, The Guardian reported. Dutch clinical guidelines say a sperm donor should not father more than 25 children from 12 families. The Dutch News, which described Meijer as an "obsessive" sperm donor, said the Dutch gynecologists' society, NVOG, first issued a warning about Meijer in 2017.

THE HAGUE, April 28 (Reuters) - A Dutch court on Friday ordered a man who judges said had fathered between 500 and 600 children around the world to stop donating sperm. The 41-year-old Dutchman, identified by de Telegraaf newspaper as Jonathan Meijer, was forbidden to donate more semen to clinics, the court ruling said. The decision came after a civil case started by a foundation representing the interests of donor children and Dutch parents who had used Meijer as a donor. However, he continued to donate abroad, including to the Danish sperm bank Cryos which operates internationally. Meijer also continued to offer himself as a donor on sites matching prospective parents with sperm donors, sometimes using a different name, according to the Algemeen Dagblad daily.
