Trump Media is reportedly in “advanced talks” to buy the cryptocurrency trading firm Bakkt, the Financial Times reported Monday, citing two people with knowledge of the talks. Trump Media, which is majority-owned by President-elect Donald Trump, shot up by double digits minutes after the FT report was published. Trump Media has seen its market value rise and fall by billions of dollars in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, as retail investors bet on the Republican’s momentum and political prospects. While Trump Media has reported a $363 million net loss on revenues of just $2.6 million so far this year, it boasts a market cap above $7 billion. A Trump Media spokeswoman did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Israel’s Knesset opened its winter session on Monday against a backdrop of war in Gaza and Lebanon and after an Israeli strike on Iran on Saturday. UNRWAThe Knesset was set to debate on Monday bills that would make it illegal for Israeli officials to cooperate with UNRWA, the main U.N. agency that aids Palestinians. The bills would effectively shut down the agency’s work in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem within 90 days. According to the Jerusalem Post, the first bill states that UNRWA could no longer operate in Israel, while the second would abrogate the treaty that underpins the relationship between UNRWA and Israel. The Knesset has already voted in favor of advancing the bill and it is being prepared for a second and third reading.

There's no doubt about that," said Harry Katz, a professor who studies collective bargaining at Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Late Friday, Jon Holden, president of the striking workers' union, IAM District 751, pushed for a return to negotiations. However, unlike during the last Boeing factory strike in 2008, there is more contract work in the Seattle area to help workers fill the gaps. Union members are still angry that Boeing demanded they give up their traditional pension plans 10 years ago, when the company was doing well financially. Even with all of its problems, Boeing is likely at no risk of disappearing. If airlines that are Boeing customers cancel their order, they would have to wait five years for a comparable jet from Airbus. Boeing will discontinue that plane once its current orders are completed and delivered to customers in 2027. That plane is built by some of the union members now on strike.

New York CNN —Boeing and the union that represents 33,000 striking employees at the company say talks between the two have broken down and no new talks are scheduled. A previous tentative agreement between the union and Boeing ahead of the strike was rejected nearly unanimously by the members now on strike. Union members are angry that they lost the traditional pension plan that they had at Boeing until 10 years ago. Boeing on Tuesday said that it is trying to reach a deal with the union that will bring the strike to an end. But the union said Boeing refused to improve the publicly disclosed offer of two weeks ago.

Boeing is set to resume negotiations with union bosses on Monday. Thousands of members of the IAM union have been on strike since September 13. A group of Bank of America analysts, led by Ron Epstein, estimated that the strike was costing Boeing $50 million a day. Some 33,000 Boeing workers represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have been on strike since September 13. Nearly 95% of union members voted against Boeing's initial offer of a 25% pay rise across the four-year contract.

Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has endorsed Republican former President Donald Trump's campaign, is advising the GOP nominee to focus on Vice President Kamala Harris' policy pivots in their upcoming debate. Still, Gabbard is uniquely suited to help Trump understand what it would be like to debate Harris, given her firsthand experience during the 2020 Democratic primary contest. "What I pointed out in that debate stage in the 2020 campaign was her hypocrisy," Gabbard said. At the time, criminal justice reform was a very popular issue among Democratic primary voters. The Trump campaign recently added both Gabbard and RFK Jr. to its official transition team, and both are in reported talks for potential cabinet positions if Trump wins the White House.

Earlier this year, Bailey promised to turn out $100 million and 5 million votes for Trump. Hoyos-López, Bailey's neighbor, had been recently orange-pilled, and was anxious to help out any way she could in getting Trump to Nashville. At the conference, Hoyos-López, Fabiano and Bailey worked to stage a second roundtable with Trump. To Fabiano, Bailey, and Hoyos-López, the stakes couldn't possibly be higher, as Democratic nominee Kamala Harris gains momentum in the polls. Less than a week after leaving Nashville, Fabiano, Hoyos-López and Bailey were back together closer to home to process all that had happened.

Google is in advanced talks to acquire cybersecurity firm Wiz for $23 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. It had been eyeing an IPO as recently as May, when the company achieved a valuation of $12 billion. Google has made large cyber acquisitions before: The company acquired cybersecurity firm Mandiant for $5.4 billion two years ago. But its reported talks with Wiz would suggest that the company has developed a fresh appetite for M&A, competitive concerns notwithstanding. Google had been in talks to acquire sales software maker Hubspot, CNBC previously reported, but its pursuit had reportedly cooled.

New York Philharmonic Chief Abruptly Steps Down

Gary Ginstling, the New York Philharmonic’s president and chief executive, abruptly resigned on Thursday after just a year on the job, leaving the orchestra in limbo as it grapples with challenges including an investigation into its workplace culture after two players were accused of misconduct. His departure comes as the orchestra’s musicians and the administration are in the midst of heated talks over a new labor contract; the current agreement expires in September. The musicians have been seeking large wage increases. As the orchestra prepares for its 2024-25 season, it is facing another leadership void: It will not have a music director. Jaap van Zweden’s six-year tenure comes to an end this summer, and his successor, the star conductor Gustavo Dudamel, does not start in the role until 2026.

In my career, I've spent the last 12 years studying how the most successful, effective, and influential people speak. Over time, I noticed that there was a missing factor in our models that could make or break these deals: effective communication. Here are three communication strategies the most visionary leaders use. They use clear and simple languageWhen visionaries speak, they aren't overly complex or theoretical. Another visionary example I love comes from Nelson Mandela, who famously said "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

Germany Hopes to Head Off a Trade War With China

With billions of dollars in trade between China and the European Union at stake, Germany’s second-highest cabinet official called on Saturday for the two sides to engage in talks to try to resolve an escalating dispute over tariffs. Robert Habeck, who is Germany’s vice chancellor and minister for economic affairs and climate, said that he expected talks to begin soon between China and European officials. Still, he added that tariffs could be justified if the commission’s concerns about China’s subsidies for its electric car industry were not resolved. This month, the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, proposed tariffs of up to 38 percent on electric cars from China, on top of an existing 10 percent tariff on imported cars. The commission said it found that China’s electric car sector was heavily subsidized by the government and state-controlled banking system.

Eighty countries jointly called Sunday for the "territorial integrity" of Ukraine to be the basis for any peace agreement to end Russia's two-year war, though some key developing nations at a Swiss conference did not join in. Brazil, an "observer" country, did not sign on but Turkey — which has sought to an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine — did. The final document said the U.N. Charter and "respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty … can and will serve as a basis for achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine." Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hailed the "first steps toward peace" at the meeting, and said the joint communique remains "open for accession by everyone who respects the U.N. "We all at this table need to do more so that children of Ukraine are back in Ukraine," he added.

Yet, there's a notable lack of attention and concern given to the social aspect of retirement, experts said. It's a facet of retirement planning that's almost "hidden in plain sight," said Robert Waldinger, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Money is the "obvious" focus when it comes to retirement planning, Waldinger said. Put another way: "Social connections are really good for us" and "loneliness kills," Waldinger explained in a 2015 TED Talk titled "What makes a good life?" "Some people say, 'It's too late for me'" to make new social connections, Waldinger said.

Warnings continued against the growing offensive in Rafah, considered the last refuge in Gaza for more than a million civilians as well as Hamas' last stronghold. The two towns near Gaza's northern border with Israel were heavily bombed in the opening days of the war. The prediction matched that of President Biden, who said that a deal could come as soon as next week. In public, however, Hamas and Israel are sticking with their longstanding positions and not signaling any breakthrough. The two sides have not met face to face, instead negotiating through mediators in Doha, Cairo and Paris. Qatar’s foreign ministry said this week that talks were ongoing and it was too early to speculate about a resolution. Mr. Haniyeh met on Monday with the emir of Qatar and accused Israel of dragging its feet in the talks, according to a Hamas statement.
