Mental health matters just as much as physical health, and boys should know it needs to be a priority. Nutrition and exerciseDuring puberty, boys’ bodies grow rapidly, and they need the right fuel to keep up. Boys need to understand that what they see online isn’t always real. Boys need to know that it’s OK to ask questions — whether it’s about feelings, their changing bodies or anything else. By creating an environment in which boys feel comfortable talking about their health, we’re giving them the tools they need to navigate a time of massive change.

My tween son, however, groaned. AdvertisementMy son and I both appreciate the amenities that come with flight upgrades. For me, choosing to pay more for flight upgrades my tween will enjoy is no different from when I splurged on pricey trips to Disney parks when he was little. If travel upgrades leave my family feeling well-rested and ready for adventure when we land, then investing in them is just as valuable as the excursions we book at our destination. So, even if traveling in style is spoiling my tween, I'll continue to upgrade us whenever it's within our budget.

“In the law, there is a clear separation of church and state,” Childs, an attorney who represents the Houston area on the board, said of her decision. This year, Oklahoma’s top education official began ordering public schools with students in grades five through 12 to incorporate the Bible into lesson plans. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters, a Republican, has purchased 500 Bibles and asked for $3 million from the state to buy copies for every classroom. “Public school is not Sunday school,” Wright said. Childs, the Texas State Board of Education member, sees the current push for increased religious influence in public schools as concerning, as it comes amid a dialing back of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at companies and institutions.

In 2024, she started working at Costco, and her husband says she looks "lighter" coming home. I started working as a high school math teacher in 2007. Eventually, it was too much and I decided to leave my job at the school and go work at Costco instead. I decided to apply at Costco and got a job stocking shelves on the early shift, starting around 4 a.m. Equally, I was looking forward to working a job and then leaving it at work — not taking anything home with me.

My son just got his driver's license and loves his newfound freedom. AdvertisementWhen my oldest got his driver's license, I learned that some of his friends' parents installed apps so they could track their kids, but I refused to follow suit. I understand why people track their kidsMost people track their children for one of two reasons: to ensure their safety or to ensure they're going where they said they were. But that extra step feels like we're communicating and respecting each other, rather than me stealthily watching him on my phone. But it's one more way they're growing up; I'm trying to grow up and let go as well.

AdvertisementSince I don't have children, I opened college savings accounts for my two nieces and one nephew. It's a college savings account, but I won't force them into college; they can do what they want. Their parents don't also need to spend their Saturday teaching a kid how to hold a tennis racket. To further support their parents, I opened college savings accounts eight years ago for my nieces and nephew. But I want them to progress toward that degree because auntie's money won't last forever.

Like rural communities across the country, Celina is seeing a housing boom that made it America’s fastest growing city in 2023. With more than 200 people moving there each week, the city projects it will have more than 100,000 residents by 2029. “Southern Collin County is just getting really, really, really expensive. PEACHAM, Vt. — The last thing John and Jenny Mackenzie saw as they fled their Vermont home with their daughters, dog and two guinea pigs last summer was their cars upended and propelled away by rushing flood waters. “It was just like it was a horror movie at that point,” John Mackenzie said of the surreal scene on that July 10 night. “We lost both of our vehicles, our home and our barn and at least half of our possessions,” Jenny Mackenzie said. Donations from friends, family and others in their community have helped the Mackenzies find a new house in time for Thanksgiving, giving them hope amid ongoing challenges. “It’s unbelievable the way that we were supported and we’ve been trying to find ways to communicate that gratitude,” said John Mackenzie, 49.
