The pay limit has been in place since the end of a labor dispute that caused the cancellation of the entire 2004-05 NHL season. Sports business experts said the strict salary cap has helped the league's financial health since the full season stoppage. The hard salary cap is a stark difference from Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association, which have no salary cap and a soft salary cap, respectively. But the hard cap means NHL teams have to be especially diligent. The NHL is planning to start negotiations with the NHLPA in early 2025, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said at this year's NHL Board of Governors meeting.

Bidders interested in acquiring the media company founded by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones will battle it out at a bankruptcy auction Wednesday, potentially silencing his Infowars broadcasting platform for good. "All you leftists celebrating the end of Alex Jones and Infowars, you're fools," he said. Jay Westbrook, a University of Texas bankruptcy law professor, said the ultimate goal would be to earn a "maximum return for the victims." Across the last three polls, Trump led Harris 50%-40% among those who were confirmed not to have voted in 2022 or 2020. On the panels, all three of the voters leaning Harris’ way were women who, in part, said they connected with her on an emotional level. She framed her vote as “less of a vote for her and more of a vote against Trump,” and she added that she never gave voting for Trump serious thought. She’s caught between a fear of choosing the wrong candidate and the “guilt” she feels after having sat out 2020.

New focus groups of skeptical young men planning to vote in this fall’s most critical battleground states illustrate how, for these voters, it’s all about Donald Trump. Polling has shown a significant gender gap in the race, with Trump holding the upper hand among men and Harris with women.
