LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors charged a man Monday with four counts of murder in the fatal shootings of three homeless men in Los Angeles and a suburban resident last month. The Los Angeles resident was then identified as a suspect in the killings of the three homeless men when a firearm found in his car was linked to those shootings, authorities said. The motive for the killings of the homeless victims was not known, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said during a weekend press conference announcing the arrest. CNN —An unarmed Black man was attacked by a police officer’s K-9 as he surrendered to authorities with his hands up, despite an Ohio State Trooper repeatedly urging officers not to release the dog. The video then cuts to what appears to be a state trooper coming out of his vehicle and walking toward the driver. “Do not release the dog with his hands up,” a state trooper warns several times from a distance. Circleville K9 Officer R. Speakman deployed his K9 on the suspect.”Footage shows the dog was released after repeated warnings from the state trooper. “Get the dog off of him,” the same state trooper yells several times.

The mayor of a small Oregon town who iis accused of opening fire on motorists in a Halloween night road rage incident was arrested Tuesday, authorities said. The alleged shooter was later identified as Dowen Jones, the 47-year-old mayor Rufus, a city with fewer that 270 residents about 100 miles east of downtown Portland, the sheriff said. No one in the family car, two adults and two children, 5 and 8 years old, was wounded. The allegations are totally out of character for the well-liked mayor, according to Holliday. Eight Akron police officers on leave after being involved in the fatal shooting of Jayland Walker will return to duty but in administrative roles, the city’s police chief said Tuesday. The officers were placed on paid administrative leave following the fatal shooting of Walker, 25, who was shot 46 times in a hail of police gunfire during a foot chase June 27. The death of Walker, who was Black, sparked protests in Akron, demands for a transparency and accountability, and a federal investigation. After Walker got out of the car and ran on foot, officers chased him and opened fire. Police said when body camera footage of the shooting was released that Walker turned towards officers before he was shot.
Police said a tip helped them stop a potential mass shooting at a Texas high school homecoming football game and led to the arrests of two 18-year-old men. An AR pistol and a 60-round magazine were found in the vehicle, Everman Emergency Services said in a Facebook statement. A Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office deputy received a tip about a "credible and potentially imminent threat" at the game. Gipson and Cooper are in the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff's office said the two suspects face several felony charges, according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.
