CNN —Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has become the first rookie in 16 years to be named to the All-WNBA first team. The guard was already named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year in a near-unanimous vote earlier this month, a fitting title for an astonishing season. Clark also became the first ever rookie to record a triple-double and holds the record for most three-pointers made (122) by a rookie in league history. Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson has also been named in the All-WNBA first team. Las Vegas Aces star Wilson, meanwhile, earned her unanimous place on the first team after a historic season.

CNN —After a long, history-making WNBA season that featured a break for the Paris Olympics, the postseason is finally here. 1 New York Liberty – 1 p.m. It has been on the losing side in the WNBA Finals on five occasions, most recently against the Las Vegas Aces last year. After a spectacular rookie season, Clark will now be tested by the trials and tribulations of the postseason for the first time. Despite winning it all in 2022 and 2023, Las Vegas is certainly not the favorite heading into the postseason and could only manage the fourth seed for the playoffs.

PARIS — Two-time WNBA champion A'ja Wilson scored 21 points as the United States survived an unexpectedly close contest from host France, winning 67-66 for their eighth straight Olympic gold medal in women's basketball on Sunday. "When you invest in a jersey, that means you really appreciate that person, their character, and what they bring to the game," Krieger said. Sports Innovation Lab estimates the women's sports merchandise industry is worth $4 billion — conservatively. People simply don't know where to find merchandise — 32% of fans reported having an issue finding a seller for women's sports merchandise compared to just 18% of fans looking for men's, according to Sports Innovation Lab's 2024 Women's Sports Merchandise Survey. But while big brands are making strides in partnering with women's professional teams to create merchandise, the women's sports merch buying experience is still lacking. Building the women's game takes an ecosystem of collaboration involving fans, athletes, leagues, team sponsors, and retailers.

The black T-shirt spells it out in capital letters: “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports.”In the past few months, the message has been hard to miss. Dawn Staley, the coach of the University of South Carolina’s women’s basketball team, kicked off a social media frenzy when she wore the shirt for a pregame interview in January. The comedian and actor Jason Sudeikis wore a version with yellow lettering to the women’s N.C.A.A. Jimmy Fallon got one on “The Tonight Show” as a gift from the recently retired W.N.B.A. The shirt, which was created by a company co-founded by Ms. Bird, has become an unofficial uniform as viewership of women’s basketball has soared, and women’s sports in general have seen greater momentum.

"Sue Bird: In the Clutch," a documentary on the career and personal life of the WNBA star, wasn't the most buzzed-about film at Sundance. Nike's success could encourage more brands to follow its leadNike has long been a big player in brand-funded films. Many brands dream of getting their films on Netflix, where even relatively small viewership numbers are bigger than they'd get on a rival streamer. Brands often work alongside traditional Hollywood players, which lends credibility to film projects. But the more films like "In the Clutch" get wide distribution, the more other brands could be encouraged to pursue similar storytelling.
