A man opens the LinkedIn social network app on his smartphone at the breakfast table in Berlin on July 5, 2024. Every morning, Emily Ritter spends 15 minutes in bed checking her Instagram, Messages, Slack and Strava apps and playing The New York Times' Connections and Strands games on her phone. LinkedIn, which Microsoft acquired for $27 billion in 2016, rolled out its first three games in May, and Queens has emerged as the hottest of the trio. On Tuesday, the company launches game number four, and it's going deeper into logic puzzles with a title called Tango. The New York Times offers eight games, and made a splash in the market in 2022 with the purchase of viral word game Wordle.

Doing cardio and strength training is linked to longevity, so she tried what's known as hybrid training. She made running a habit by not pushing herself too hard and making it as enjoyable as possible. While weight training is on the up, so is running: Running remained the most popular sport on Strava in 2023, up 4% since 2022. I know that when trying to establish a new healthy habit, going slow and steady makes it more likely to stick. I'm running for my long-term health and fitness, for the mental challenge, and so I can walk up multiple flights of stairs without getting out of breath.

Julia PugachevskyKeep the heavier items towards the topCihlar said that your shoulders sometimes feel sore when you start rucking. For more seasoned ruckers, she recommended getting real rucking shoes because trainers "break down faster once you start adding that load." Case in point: the PowerPoint party, where people get together to show each other presentations on various topics in the name of having fun. It's a chance to be creative and turn something you do at work into something silly and social. The rise of the PowerPoint party also speaks to the workification of our day-to-day lives. Perhaps it's no surprise that young adults who had their childhood activities scheduled down to the minute are embracing the PowerPoint party. If you absolutely insist on having a PowerPoint party, God bless.

CNN —Sensitive personal information like the apparent home addresses and health conditions of thousands of active-duty US military personnel can be bought cheaply online from so-called data brokers, according to a study published Monday by Duke University researchers. The researchers could shop for data on servicemembers based on geolocation, including whether they lived or work near Fort Bragg, Quantico or other sensitive military locations. The Federal Trade Commission is currently considering new regulations to crack down on data brokers. “However, we have repeatedly raised concerns about the practices of data brokers and their potential impact on consumer privacy. The Pentagon and US intelligence community have long been concerned about how foreign spies might exploit the market for personal data on Americans.

Ukraine killed a senior Russian officer in a long-range missile strike this week. Lt Gen Oleg Tsokov is the latest in a series of senior Russian officers killed in Ukraine. The blast hit a hotel housing Russian officers in the occupied city of Berdiansk, far from the front lines. The recent acquisition of Storm Shadow missiles means Ukraine can reach Russian top brass in places that used to be safe. The missiles have a range of 150 miles, almost triple that of the missiles Ukraine was previously using.

A Russian submarine commander was shot dead while on a morning run inside Russia. Ukrainian intelligence shared details about the killing but didn't take responsibility. But it seems that Ukrainian intelligence is already ahead of them. It's unclear if the assailant knew about Rzhitsky's Strava account or whether it was used in the killing. While Ukrainian intelligence didn't immediately take responsibility for Rzhitsky's death, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence service has previously said that his assassins had been successfully targeting pro-Russian war propagandists inside Russia's borders away from the frontlines.
