A report issued Tuesday entitled "15 Ways to Play AI" anticipates a "broadening out of the AI theme over the remainder of 2024 and into 2025" and notable AI adoption in areas such as gaming, education and biotechnology. The merger, which will create a company worth $34 billion including debt, is expected to be finalized in mid-2024 after closing conditions are met and regulators have signed off on the deal, Bunge said. Bunge shareholders on Thursday also approved the issuance of 65,611,831 common shares and a move of Bunge's incorporation to Switzerland from Bermuda. Bunge's Viterra acquisition would make the world's largest oilseed processor more dominant as it aims to capitalize on soaring demand for vegetable oils to produce biofuels.

Cryptocurrency giant Tether is setting up a bitcoin mining operation in Uruguay using renewable energy, as the company looks to diversify the revenue mix to support its USDT stablecoin. The company said Tuesday that it plans to invest its resources into renewable energy production, marking its first foray into the energy sector. Tether is also on the hunt for "experts in the area" to support its expansion into the renewable energy space, it said. "By harnessing the power of Bitcoin and Uruguay's renewable energy capabilities, Tether is leading the way in sustainable and responsible Bitcoin mining," said Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Tether. "Our unwavering commitment to renewable energy ensures that every Bitcoin we mine leaves a minimal ecological footprint while upholding the security and integrity of the Bitcoin network."

With a new year underway, there's an opportunity to scoop up some names that investors sold to save on taxes in 2022, according to Morgan Stanley. In fact, Morgan Stanley fielded more inquiries on tax-loss selling strategies in 2022 than in any other year, analyst Todd Castagno wrote in a note Friday. Morgan Stanley looked for those popular stocks that have derated but may be repurchased once the tax loss is realized. Brighter prospects ahead The beauty of the 60/40 strategy is that the two asset classes work as a hedge against the other. Vanguard has funds based on the 60/40 strategy.
But shares fell more than 7% after the bank said its 2024 costs would be higher than anticipated, with revenue and operating profit for that year missing analysts' current forecasts.
