Comcast is expected to announce a plan Wednesday to spin off its cable networks into a separate company, two people familiar with the matter told NBC News. Comcast had announced during its quarterly earnings call in October that it was considering spinning off its cable networks. Bravo will remain part of Comcast’s NBCUniversal because its content is heavily featured on Peacock, CNBC reported. Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts will have a voting position in the new entity, but he won't be on the board of directors, CNBC reported. That's the pitch Comcast is making Wednesday as it announces plans to split off almost all of its cable TV networks into a new company. Into the spinco goes every cable network Comcast owns except for Bravo. For the record: Comcast says it thinks the cable networks it is ditching can be successful on their own. And as I said last month: Comcast is getting rid of its basic cable networks for the same reason everyone who owns basic cable networks would like to get rid of their cable networks.

London CNN —Mourners will gather to remember Liam Payne in England on Wednesday, according to PA Media, after the British singer died last month. Close family of Payne, 31, and his former One Direction band members are among those expected to attend the funeral, PA Media reported. The British singer died on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system, according to the country’s public prosecutor’s office, which launched an investigation. Payne soared to global fame as part of One Direction, the group that was created on the British talen show “The X Factor” in 2010.
