Assa Abloy sells locks under various brand names. In September 2021, it announced plans to buy Middleton, Wis.-based Spectrum Brands ’ Hardware and Home Improvement segment. The Justice Department sued in September 2022 to block the deal, saying it would diminish competition in the residential door hardware industry and raise prices.

May 5 (Reuters) - Sweden's Assa Abloy AB (ASSAb.ST), the world's No. The Justice Department last year sued to block the proposed deal by Assa Abloy to buy the Spectrum Brands HHI division, which makes residential door hardware, saying the deal could lead to higher prices. Assa Abloy makes Yale, August and EMTEK brands, while Spectrum's division makes the Baldwin and Kwikset brands. In a separate statement, Fortune said it will go ahead with the purchase of businesses from Assa Abloy for $800 million. Assa Abloy agreed in December to sell the businesses to Fortune in a bid to resolve the U.S. antitrust issues.

Analyst Steve Powers upgraded shares to buy from hold, saying the higher likelihood Beijing will ease Covid restrictions in March or April raises confidence in the stock. Shares of Estee Lauder came under pressure this year as the beauty company with a high exposure to China dealt with the country's strict Covid restrictions. The analyst expects that Estee Lauder's China business will recover after struggling in 2022. Estee Lauder is expected to have three additional distribution centers over the next half year, with one already open in Guangzhou, according to the note.
