The C909's closest competitors in size and range are the Brazilian-made Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2. China's state-owned planemaker, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, better known as Comac, has rebranded its regional aircraft to better compete with Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer. AdvertisementEmbraer's larger planes can carry more peopleComac data shows the C909 seats five abreast and can carry 78 passengers in two classes (or up to 97 in a high-density configuration). The Embraer E190-E2 has a shorter range than its sister jet. For example, Virgin Australia agreed to buy eight E190-E2 aircraft in August.

By extension, the move in Washington, D.C. could also spell good news for Chinese stocks. High U.S. interest rates relative to China have made it fairly straightforward for global institutions to pick U.S. Treasurys over Chinese stocks. More than lower rates needed Other global investors say Chinese stocks need more than easier monetary policy to become truly attractive. The "government can push interest rates down, but if households don't want to spend the extra income, it won't go into the economy," he said. Earlier this year, People's Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng acknowledged U.S. Fed easing would create room for China to further cut interest rates.

CNN —China Southern Airlines is launching its first-ever direct passenger flight from the megacity of Shenzhen to Mexico City, which will set the record as the longest nonstop regular commercial flight to originate in China. The inaugural flight will depart from the Chinese southern metropolis of Shenzhen on May 11, making a 16-hour nonstop journey to Mexico City, according to information available from China Southern Airlines. The upcoming route overtakes China Southern Airlines’ Guangzhou to New York flight, which covers a distance of 12,871 kilometers, as the furthest nonstop commercial flight to depart from a Chinese airport. China Southern Airline’s newest route would knock out Singapore Airlines’ Singapore to Los Angeles flight to take 8th place on the list of the world’s longest flights compiled by aviation analytics database OAG. China Southern Airlines was the first-ever Chinese carrier to operate flights to Mexico, launching the Guangzhou-Vancouver-Mexico City route in April 2017, according to reports from Chinese state media agency Xinhua at the time.

British startup carrier Global Airlines said on Friday that it had fully acquired an Airbus A380 jet previously owned by China Southern Airlines. MSN 120, however, is not the same plane that Global said it acquired back in May 2023. Following the purchase of MSN 120, Global expects to acquire three more A380s and hopefully launch commercial flights "later this year," it said. "The renaissance of the A380 is really the focus of Global Airlines," HiFly CCO Richard Stephenson said in a December video posted by Global. Simple Flying reported Global would refurbish MSN 120 but keep its China Southern seats.

Hong Kong/New York CNN —Boeing has delivered its first 737 Max to a Chinese airline for the first time in nearly five years, according to flight data, in a rare spot of good news for the embattled company. According to flight tracking website Flightradar 24, China Southern Airlines flight CZ5073 departed from Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington, on Wednesday for China via Honolulu. The use of the airline’s flight number, instead of a Boeing one, suggests the ownership of the plane has already been transferred. The plane, a 737 Max 8 according to flight data, was built in September 2019 and has been parked in Boeing’s Seattle factory since then, according to flight tracking sites Flightradar 24 and Aviation Flights. In December, the trade publication the Air Current said Boeing had won a key clearance from China’s aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), allowing Boeing to prepare Max aircraft for delivery, Reuters reported.

A Boeing 737 Max 8 airplane of China Southern Airlines lands at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport as the Boeing 737 Max returns to passenger flying in China after a hiatus of nearly four years on January 13, 2023 in Wuhan, Hubei Province of China. It represents a vote of confidence for the planemaker during a difficult period for Boeing following a Jan. 5 mid-air cabin blowout during a full flight. Chinese imports of the MAX have been suspended since it was grounded worldwide in 2019 following two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019. Safety bans have been lifted with existing MAX already flying inside China, but new deliveries had remained on hold. Boeing has faced increased scrutiny following the Jan. 5 mid-air incident on an Alaska Airlines flight.

Other online screenshots indicated the cheap prices were offered for about two hours on the carrier's app as well as across several ticket-booking platforms, including market leader Trip.com. BEIJING, June 28 (Reuters) - About 90% of Boeing's (BA.N) China 737 MAX fleet have resumed commercial operation as of the end of June, the U.S. aircraft maker said on its official WeChat account on Wednesday. Some planes have been dispatched to regional international routes, Sherry Carbary, president of Boeing China, said in the article. China grounded its entire Boeing 737 MAX fleet after an air crash of one 737 MAX jet operated by Ethiopian Airlines in March 2019, the second deadly accident of the model in five months. State-owned China Southern Airlines (600029.SS) was the country's first carrier to resume the flying of the 737 MAX in January, after the plane was grounded for nearly four years. Chinese airlines then has been gradually reintroducing the model back to operation and in April Boeing estimated that half of the country's MAX fleet was in operation.
