It is famed for a love of singing and a passion for rugby. It has a distinctive Celtic language and is the birthplace of the poet Dylan Thomas. But few would claim that Wales, a nation of three million people outnumbered by sheep, is well known for whiskey, or whisky, as it is known in Wales. That was how the problems began in Abergwyngregyn (pronounced ABER-gwin-gregin), in the shadow of the ice-capped Snowdonia mountain range, where Aber Falls single-malt whisky is produced in a distillery filled with the strong malty aroma of barley. Made with exclusively Welsh grain and water from a picturesque nearby waterfall, the light, slightly fruity, single-malt whisky distilled by Aber Falls was the first in more than a century to be produced in North Wales.

After having a great experience, we hoped to once again score upper-class tickets on the same route. For our return flight, the minimum bid was 47,000 rupees ($560) per ticket. Adding 1,000 rupees ($12) to the minimum bid each way, my husband decided to give it a shot. AdvertisementForty-eight hours before our scheduled departure, Virgin Atlantic emailed us that our bid for upper-class tickets had been accepted. However, since there's no guarantee of winning the bid, we'll always look for a good deal on business-class tickets first.

CNN —Mountain rescuers came to the aid of a woman and her pet parrot in the United Kingdom this week after she became stranded trying to find one of her feathered friends, who was scared off by a peregrine falcon. The woman was part of a group of parrot owners from Derbyshire walking in Eryri, or Snowdonia, in Wales, on Monday, according to Facebook post from the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team. Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue OrganizationRescuers climbed to the base of the cliffs and sent a team member up to make the woman safe, it adds. Both parrot and owner were then lowered down the cliffs and guided down the mountain, it adds. The casualty remained cool, calm and positively regal throughout,” reads the statement from the Keswick Mountain Rescue team.

[1/2] SpaceX Starlink 5 satellites are pictured in the sky seen from Svendborg on South Funen, Denmark April 21, 2020. Ritzau Scanpix/Mads Claus Rasmussen via REUTERSLONDON, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Britain is to trial using low Earth orbit satellites to provide high-speed internet connections to remote homes and businesses, with the initial sites supported by equipment supplied by Elon Musk's Starlink system. Musk's SpaceX rocket company activated Starlink, a largely consumer-based service with hundreds of thousands of internet users, over Ukraine after Russia's invasion in February. "These trials aim to find a solution to the prohibitively high cost of rolling out cables to far-flung locations." As well as testing the technical capability of the satellites, the trials will look at what benefits faster internet connections will bring to these locations, the government said.
Andrew Roberts, nicknamed the "Lone Ranger", was Wales' longest-serving ranger. He earned his "Lone Ranger" nickname in 2016 after buying a horse. But after 39 years, he's decided to retire, so the National Trust is recruiting a successor. According to the National Trust, it comprises 20,000 acres of "dramatic river valleys, magnificent uplands, and wild open moorland." Applications to be Roberts' successor are open until Sunday if you're keen to be the next "Lone Ranger".
