It's a jaw-dropping figure — more than twice her previous $60 million deal with Spotify back in 2021 and higher even than the reported $100 million snagged earlier this year by SmartLess. But the "Call Her Daddy" host can't exactly sit back and cash a check for $41 million each year. She can earn as much as the widely reported $125 million — but it won't be easy. A podcast deal with a host like Cooper would be based on a certain number of downloads a month. Related storiesCooper's SiriusXM deal is also not just for "Call Her Daddy," but for her Unwell Network's "complete slate of current and future shows."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem like lovely people. Netflix dropped "Pearl," an animated children's series Meghan created through her and Harry's production company, Archewell Productions, before it even premiered. The audio-streaming company signed a deal with Harry and Meghan in 2020 reportedly worth $20 million. As Michael Pachter, a managing director at Wedbush Securities who's covered movies, entertainment, and tech for two decades, explained, it's because they've still got that $100 million deal. A public breakup with Meghan and Harry may also be a mess Netflix doesn't want to deal with.

But over the last several months, the Disney chief made significant moves that took the wind out of those sails. Regardless, the course of action taken by Iger had the same effect, pouring cold water on Peltz’s public grievances. On streaming strategy: Iger moved to take full control of Hulu in a major deal with Comcast. Last week, Disney merged the service into Disney+, putting both libraries into a single app in a move once considered unthinkable. Disney investors overwhelmingly moved to elect Disney’s slate of directors, rejecting Peltz and former company exec Jay Rasulo.

In fact, Biden has engaged in a number of interviews this year, particularly with the Black and Hispanic press. “People in D.C. and New York may not always see it,” Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign communications director, told me by phone. The campaign argues that it adds up to media playbook that is inclusive of new media entities and other platforms with broad reach. “Number of times Jason Bateman has done a sit-down interview with President Biden: 2. Some of Biden’s hesitation to speak with the traditional news media likely stems from his frustration with how members of the press have covered him and his campaign.

Two competing slates of board seats are now up for a vote against Disney’s. Peltz has criticized Disney’s recent theatrical flops and said the company should reach “Netflix-like margins” with its Disney+ streaming service, among other issues. If Peltz is successful, he and Rasulo could gain up to two seats on the board, displacing Disney’s picks. More than 35% of Disney’s shares are held by these individuals, who could seriously sway the vote. The influential advisory firms Institutional Shareholder Service and Egan-Jones have also thrown their support behind Peltz for at least one seat on the board.

During a recently released conversation on Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett’s podcast “Smartless,” Elba addressed the many times he’s been asked about replacing Daniel Craig in the James Bond film franchise.
