CNN —Republicans flipped the Senate, but Democratic candidates often outran the top of the ticket, winning at least four battleground states that Vice President Kamala Harris lost. Harris lost all seven swing states to President-elect Donald Trump, while her party’s Senate candidates narrowly held Wisconsin, Nevada and open seats in Michigan and Arizona. In some races, the differences between the Senate candidates’ and Harris’ performances were more pronounced among subsections of the Democratic coalition. While Trump won independents by 2 points, Rosen won the group by 6. Slotkin will replace Sen. Debbie Stabenow, a fellow Democrat first elected to the seat in 2000 who is retiring this year. Slotkin held the seat in two subsequent close elections before she ran for the Senate this election cycle. In Wisconsin, they break 52% Harris to 47% Trump, and in Pennsylvania, they divide 50% for Harris to 47% for Trump. Harris holds a wider lead among Black voters in Michigan (83% Harris to 12% Trump) than she does in Pennsylvania (76% Harris to 21% Trump). Democrats outraised Republicans in all 11 competitive Senate races and in all but one of the 26 “toss-up” House races. Three Senate Democratic candidates — Ohio Sen. This past Wednesday alone, he recorded 21 videos for the Harris campaign. Obama acolytes have spent the last eight years rationalizing Trump as the last gasp backlash to the Democrat and his presidency. The trio of blue wall states offer promise to Vice President Harris and former President Trump. She's worked to rally union workers — a key voting bloc — around her campaign. But Loge also pointed to a newly-released Emerson College poll, which showed that Harris' union support varied by state. In the Quinnipiac poll, Michigan voters gave Trump an eight-point edge (53% to 45%) on the economy. And she's aiming to win over voters — especially union workers — in smaller cities where Trump found success in 2016.
