Neale Fraser: Australian tennis icon dies at 91

CNN —Neale Fraser, the icon of Australian tennis who was the last man to win singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles at a single grand slam, has died aged 91, Tennis Australia announced on Tuesday. In 1959, Fraser won the triple crown – singles, doubles and mixed doubles titles – at the US National Championships, a run which helped make him men’s singles world No. “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my dear mate and fellow lefty, Neale Fraser,” Laver wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. Next month, NASA will get an up-close view of the solar activity as the Parker Solar Probe makes its closest-ever approach to the sun. The active period is likely to continue over the next year, which means more solar storms and spectacular auroras could be in store. “This is definitely the season for big solar storms,” said Kelly Korreck, a program scientist in the heliophysics division at NASA. The Parker Solar Probe in a clean room in Titusville, Fla., in 2018, after the installation of its heat shield. In some sunspot areas, the magnetic field can be about 2,500 times stronger than Earth’s magnetic field, according to NASA.

Police in Australia charged former radio show host Alan Jones with 24 assault and sexual touching offences on Monday, indictments that followed accusations in a newspaper that Jones had assaulted young men for decades.
