Amateur buildEngineer Ashok Aliseril spent 18 months building a four-seater plane during the pandemic, helped by his daughter. Aliseril briefly considered buying an older aircraft, and looked at some that had been built in the 1960s and 1970s. After researching self-assembly aircraft kits, he came across a four-seater plane manufactured by South African company Sling Aircraft that ticked all the right boxes. “I would say generally, anyone can get involved in these sorts of builds.”Lockdown projectHe built a shed in his garden to complete the build. Polling suggests that a majority of Brits now think that the U.K. was wrong to leave the European Union. NurPhoto / Contributor / Getty ImagesLONDON — Almost seven years and four prime ministers since the U.K. voted to leave the European Union, polling suggests public sentiment has turned against Brexit. "The second thing is the increasing number of leave and other voters who are coming to see Brexit as having had negative economic impacts." But longer-term factors played a role, and he suggested that a lengthy stagnation in living standards, partly caused by the austerity policies introduced by David Cameron's government, contributed to the anger unleashed across working-class communities in the Brexit vote. Brexit being 'redefined' Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson won a landslide election victory in 2019 with a promise to "get Brexit done," touting an "oven-ready" withdrawal agreement he had negotiated with the European Union.
Social media users are sharing an image of a crowd standing on a beach and are claiming it shows migrants in Skegness, a seaside town on Britain’s east coast. But the photo was taken in Durban, South Africa, after three people were killed by a large wave in December 2022. It can be traced back to a security service in South Africa which uploaded a series of photos showing its involvement in responding to an incident on a Durban beach in December 2022 (here and here). Based on local reports, (here and here), an unexpected large wave killed three people at the beach on Dec. 17. The image shows a crowd gathering on a beach in Durban, South Africa, not migrants standing on a beach in Skegness in Britain.
