CNN —A group of OpenAI insiders are demanding that artificial intelligence companies be far more transparent about AI’s “serious risks” — and that they protect employees who voice concerns about the technology they’re building. “AI companies have strong financial incentives to avoid effective oversight,” reads the open letter posted Tuesday signed by current and former employees at AI companies including OpenAI, the creator behind the viral ChatGPT tool. As the law currently stands, the AI employees said, they don’t believe AI companies will share critical information about the technology voluntarily. Their letter comes as companies move quickly to implement generative AI tools into their products, while government regulators, companies and consumers grapple with responsible use. In 2003, Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom imagined a “technologically mature” civilization could easily create a simulated world. With simulated worlds far outnumbering the “real” world, the likelihood that we are in a simulation would be significantly higher than not. Remember, the simulations would be so good that you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a physical and a simulated world. Either the signals are being beamed directly into your brain, or we are simply AI characters inside the simulation. "Many people are against immigration because they fear that it's going to lead to job losses or income losses. Roubini explained that the future of technology and the singularity are concerning as artificial intelligence is integrated into the workplace. Another "megathreat" Roubini discussed is global warming and how companies claiming to reach net zero are behind. Unfortunately, many of the commitments to net zero done by many businesses or even financial institutions are more like corporate PR rather than real plans. Speaking at the SoftBank World corporate conference, Son said he believes AGI will be ten times more intelligent than the sum total of all human intelligence. He noted the rapid progress in generative AI that he said has already exceeded human intelligence in certain areas. Arm CEO Rene Haas, speaking at the conference via video, touted the energy efficiency of Arm's designs, saying they would become increasingly sought after to power artificial intelligence.
