Deliberations are in very early stages, however, the sources said, and any formal negotiations for an acquisition of a stake in a Malaysian bank would need approval from the Malaysian central bank, or Bank Negara Malaysia. "We do not comment on market rumors and speculation," said a spokesperson for DBS, Southeast Asia's biggest lender by assets. Alliance Bank, the second smallest listed bank in Malaysia by total assets, and Bank Negara Malaysia did not respond to requests for comment after business hours on Friday. DBS is the only Singaporean bank without a retail banking presence in Malaysia. I'm exited Singapore Airlines is adding doors to business class after flying the current seat. Taylor Rains/Business InsiderSince then, I've flown in door-equipped business class on Japan's All Nippon Airways and British Airways. The carrier announced plans in November to retrofit 41 Airbus A350 planes with a new door-equipped business class. Air India launched its new pod-like business class in January as it completely overhauls its brand.

They deemed business class more lucrative for long-haul flights. Five-star carrier Singapore Airlines is investing $830 million to retrofit 41 Airbus A350 planes. Business class doors are increasingly popular as flyers demand more privacy in high-dollar cabins. The privacy door, a flyer favorite, is an increasingly popular perk in business class. Singapore opted for privacy wings instead of a door on its existing A350 business class, which Business Insider flew in January 2023. Singapore's A350-900ULR will add three business class seats but lose 36 premium economy seats to make room for first class.

South and North Korea troops potentially entering the Russia-Ukraine war is unlikely to stoke a wider conflict between the two Korean countries, experts said. The U.S. on Wednesday confirmed that North Korean troops had been sent to Russia. "The messaging we are seeing is likely intended to deter the actual deployment of North Korean troops to Ukraine from Russia. But that will depend on how the North Korean troops are deployed, she added. "In such a case, South Korean troops would be shooting in self defence, thus limiting the nature of such combat encounters."

"The risks to Singapore's inflation outlook are more balanced compared to three months ago," MAS said in a statement, adding that growth momentum has picked up. The Monetary Authority of Singapore said it will maintain the prevailing rate of appreciation of its exchange rate-based policy band known as the Nominal Effective Exchange Rate, or S$NEER. Capital Economics markets economist Shivaan Tandon concurred, saying "the risk of keeping monetary policy too tight for too long will take center stage soon prompting the central bank to pivot". Singapore is often seen as a bellwether for global growth as its international trade dwarfs its domestic economy. As a heavily trade-reliant economy, Singapore uses a unique method of managing monetary policy, tweaking the exchange rate of its dollar against a basket of currencies instead of domestic interest rates like most other countries.

A business class ticket can cost up to five times more than an economy ticket on Singapore Airlines — and a whopping 13 times more for a first-class one. A business class ticket jumps to SG$6,300, and a first-class ticket just over SG$13,000. Aaron Wong, who flies first and business class when he travels, says: "You don't need to be rich to enjoy such things." However, it's not as simple as just picking up any mile-earning credit card and spending a bunch of money, he said. For example, in Singapore, points earned on DBS credit cards can be combined, but credit cards from Citibank Singapore don't work that way.

The court said Iswaran, 62, would be allowed to remain on bail for the next few days and begin his jail term on Monday. It was among the world's top five least corrupt countries last year, according to Transparency International's corruption perception index.
