Two bombs hit a car carrying civilians and set a residential building on fire, Sinehubov said. He posted several photographs of a badly damaged burning building and a wrecked car. KYIV (Reuters) - Russia launched a missile strike on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during Wednesday morning rush hours, Ukraine's Air Force said, with several blasts heard in the country's capital when air defence systems were engaged in repelling the attack. The loud blasts were heard in Kyiv just before 7 a.m. (0500 GMT), Reuters' witnesses reported. Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app that air defence systems were engaged. All of Ukraine was under an air raid alert, starting at around 6 a.m., with Ukraine's Air Force warning on Telegram of a risk of a Russian missile attack. Oleh Sinehubov, governor of the Kharkiv region in Ukraine's northeast, said Russian missiles struck non-residential infrastructure in Kharkiv city, the administrative centre of the region.

(Reuters) - Two civilians were killed in Russian attacks on the eastern Ukrainian town of Avdiivka on Saturday, the Donetsk region administration said on Sunday. The administration of the Donetsk region said on Sunday on the Telegram messaging app that one more person was injured elsewhere in the region. The General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces said on Sunday its forces had repelled 15 Russian attacks near Avdiivka, Tonenke and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region, while Russian forces launched heavy air strikes in the area. Oleh Sinehubov, governor of the Kharkiv region also in Ukraine's east, said on Sunday a 54-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man were killed and one woman injured in an overnight Russian air attack. Both sides deny targeting civilians in the war that Russia launched against its neighbour in February last year.

July 16 (Reuters) - One man was killed and several people were injured on Sunday in Russian shelling of a district of Kharkiv, the biggest city in eastern Ukraine, local officials said. Oleh Sinehubov, Kharkiv's governor, said on Telegram that one civilian man born in 1999 was killed in the attack on a southern part of Kharkiv. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said a total of seven people were injured in the shelling of the southern Osnovyanskyi district of the city. Ukraine recaptured much of the eastern Kharkiv region in September, with Russian forces occupying now only a small strip of land there. June 7 (Reuters) - Russian forces repeatedly fired at an ammonia pipeline in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, a local governor said on Tuesday, a conduit potentially crucial for the extension of a deal allowing the safe export of grains and fertilizers from Black Sea ports. The extension next month of the Black Sea Grain initiative, a pact struck in July 2022 to help tackle a global food crises, could hinge on the reopening of the pipeline.
