Five people have been arrested after a 2-year-old was found naked and locked in a cage in Kentucky home littered with feces, police say. Brenda Chilton, 71, William Mahoney, 72, Codey Johnson, 29, and Tammy Simmons, 52, all of Carrollton, were arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse and first-degree wanton endangerment. Shelby Turocy, 28, of Ghent was also arrested and charged with first-degree criminal abuse, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. Dave Roberts told local news station WDRB that the tip that led to the discovery of the child came from a delivery driver. “A child was behind there, completely unclothed,” Roberts told WDRB.

CNN —A man accused of the 2022 killing of a Memphis kindergarten teacher has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping. “Today’s agreement achieves finality for the family,” Mulroy said, in the statement. Eliza Fletcher, a mother and kindergarten teacher at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, vanished during an early morning run on September 2, 2022. Details outlined in an affidavit noted that the SUV remained parked for four minutes before it was driven away. DNA recovered from a pair of sandals found near the site of the abduction helped investigators identify and arrest Abston, according to the affidavit.

The Tennessee man charged with kidnapping and killing a kindergarten teacher during a morning run two years ago pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, officials said Monday. Cleotha Abston, 40, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, for the Sept. 2, 2022, murder of Eliza Fletcher, 34, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement. Memphis Police DepartmentFletcher, a mother of two, had gone for a run near the University of Memphis when Abston forced her into his vehicle. Abston was linked to Fletcher's death through surveillance video and forensic evidence, the prosecutor’s office said. The search for a woman who fell from a Taylor Swift-themed cruise ship in the Bahamas was suspended Wednesday, a day after she went into the water, officials said. The U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday afternoon that the Royal Bahamas Defence Force was suspending its search pending new developments and that it no longer needed the Coast Guard's assistance. TikTok has banned all political advertising on the app since 2019, but that hasn’t stopped advertisers from running what appear to be paid political messages on the platform. According to TikTok, the company does “not allow ads featuring political content across any of our monetization features, including paid ads, creators being paid to make branded political content, and other promotional tools on the platform.”TikTok stands apart among its big tech peers in banning political ads — Facebook, Instagram, X and Google all allow political advertisements. The continued presence of political ads on TikTok illustrates the difficulties in patrolling its own platform just weeks ahead of the 2024 presidential election and amid the court proceedings over its potential ban. The findings come as recent research shows that political ads on social media platforms are often filled with misinformation.
