Firefighters are battling multiple wildfires in Los Angeles County as a devastating windstorm has created extremely dangerous fire weather conditions.
Tens of thousands of people are under evacuation orders.
The largest fire, in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, has destroyed 1,000 structures and is growing, Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said on Wednesday.
With traffic slowing evacuations and flames jumping the highway, some had considered sheltering on the beach.
