New York CNN —Sheetz, the gas station and convenience store chain, is slashing prices at some of its pumps ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel period. Sheetz and other chains periodically slash prices to generate buzz and sales, even at the expense of lower profit. Drawing in people with cheap gas could help give convenience store sales a boost. But it’s an odd time to cut gas prices, which are below $3 a gallon in 31 states and hovering at $3.06 a gallon nationally. “Gas prices, after two-plus years of sizzling because of outside factors like Covid and Russia, are finally coming back into balance,” GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan previously told CNN.

This past week saw several pure-play space stocks rally, with leaders up as much as 20% or more, in part driven by what sector analysts said is a "Trump-Elon trade," a nod to the relationship between President-elect Donald Trump and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Just this week saw Rocket Lab up 41%, Intuitive Machines up 28%, Spire Global up 26%, Planet Labs up 16%, Redwire up 15% and AST SpaceMobile up 10%. But there's a broader market sentiment that's driving these stocks too, said Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Andres Sheppard, who has buy ratings on Rocket Lab, Redwire and Intuitive Machines. "I think there's definitely a risk-on, post-Trump-win rally that's being reflected in this industry," Sheppard told CNBC. New York CNN —Several hundred “underperforming” 7-Eleven locations across North America are closing, the convenience store announced. Seven & I Holdings, the chain’s Japan-based parent company, revealed in an earnings report Thursday that 444 locations of 7-Eleven are shutting down because of a variety of issues, including slowing sales, declining traffic, inflationary pressures and a decrease in cigarette purchases. A specific list of closing locations wasn’t immediately released. The chain has more than 13,000 stores across the United States, Canada and Mexico, so the number of closures amounts to 3% of its portfolio. The Federal Aviation Administration may issue SpaceX its next Starship license in time for a Sunday launch attempt, CNBC has learned. SpaceX and its CEO Elon Musk have been vocally critical of the FAA in recent weeks, urging the federal regulator to speed up its license review for Starship's fifth test flight. As recently as last week, the FAA said it did not expect to issue the license before "late November." Despite the ongoing review, SpaceX issued a statement Monday saying that the fifth Starship spaceflight "could launch as soon as October 13, pending regulatory approval." The FAA will make a licensing determination once SpaceX has met all licensing requirements," the FAA said.

Intuitive Machines ' stock jumped in early trading Wednesday after NASA awarded the lunar-focused company a major contract to build moon data satellites. "This contract marks an inflection point in Intuitive Machines' leadership in space communications and navigation," Intuitive Machines CEO Steve Altemus said in a statement. The contract will see Intuitive Machines build and deploy a constellation of lunar satellites to provide communications and navigation services, especially for NASA's Artemis program. United Airlines said Friday that it plans to offer inflight Wi-Fi for free using Starlink from Elon Musk’s SpaceX on its hundreds of jetliners, the biggest inflight internet deal yet for the satellite service provider. The team-up comes as airlines have been investing in faster inflight Wi-Fi, sometimes offering it for free, in a bid to attract higher-paying customers like business travelers. Delta Air Lines announced in early 2023 that onboard internet would be free for members of its SkyMiles loyalty program. Hawaiian Airlines, which has a deal with Starlink, also offers complimentary inflight Wi-Fi. JetBlue Airways has offered free Wi-Fi for years.

SpaceX pulled off its first spacewalk in the early hours of Thursday morning, in a historic first for a company. The marquee event of the private Polaris Dawn mission went smoothly, with two of the crew members — Jared Isaacman and Sarah Gillis — stepping outside of SpaceX's Dragon capsule "Resilience." It's the first time civilians, and not government astronauts, have performed a spacewalk. The spacewalk, otherwise known as an extravehicular activity, or EVA, is seen by SpaceX as a crucial milestone in its goal of sending people to other planets. The mission is also the first to fly employees of the company, represented by mission specialist Gillis and medical officer Anna Menon.

Airbus VenturesAirbus Ventures, one of the most prolific investors in space startups, has raised a $155 million fund that it plans to deploy across the burgeoning space sector, as well as the broader "deep tech" ecosystem. "This fund is designed to unlock new possibilities, and space is one of them," Thomas d'Halluin, managing partner of Airbus Ventures, told CNBC. Historically, deep tech is a classification for companies working on technologies that face steep scientific or engineering obstacles. Airbus Ventures currently has $465 million under management, with Fund-Y marking its fourth fund to date.
