A 60% majority of registered voters indicated in the poll that they do not consider Biden "mentally up for the job" of being president. Majorities of registered voters said they disapproved of how Biden has handled the economy (59%), inflation (63%) and growth of the middle class (58%), according to the poll. Nearly two-thirds of registered voters, 63%, said they viewed the strength of the U.S. economy negatively, including 36% who called it "poor." Inflation is a major pain point: 74% of respondents said it has moved in the wrong direction over the past year. Most voters, 86%, said the cost of housing has gone in the wrong direction over the past year.

But construction of TSMC's first Arizona factory, which began in the Phoenix area in 2021, has run into some hiccups. "Replacing Arizona's construction workers with foreign construction workers directly contradicts the very purpose for which the CHIPS Act was enacted – to create jobs for American workers," the petition says. The degree to which American workers can get the job done without additional assistance is up for debate. The Biden administration is providing over $13 billion in aid to help low- and moderate-income Americans lower their energy costs, including grants to pay electric bills as well other incentives to make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes. The announcement reflects the administration's efforts to lower energy costs amid extreme temperature shifts from climate change. Under the initiative, the Department of Health and Human Services will release $4.5 billion in Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding, which helps pay energy bills and energy-related home repairs for families. "We know that winter heating bills account for the largest share of low-income households' home energy needs.
