Delta Air Lines will begin shaking up its menu by serving Shake Shack cheeseburgers on flights departing from Boston this December, part of a new partnership with the New York-based burger chain. Only first-class fliers on routes over 900 miles will be able to pre-select a Shake Shack cheeseburger as their meal option starting Dec. 1, Delta Airlines said Tuesday in a press release. Passengers will be served a Caesar salad, chips and a dark chocolate brownie in addition to their cheeseburger, the release stated. "At Shake Shack, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet," said Michael Kark, President of Global Licensing at Shake Shack. The airline announced a “first-of-its-kind partnership” with Shake Shack to serve the chain’s cheeseburgers in first class on long-distance domestic flights beginning December 1 on flights out of Delta’s hub in Boston and expanding to other cities throughout 2025. For example, Alaska Airlines created a hot coffee that tastes better in the skies, while United Airlines added cold brew coffee from Illy. Delta has served a generic cheeseburger in first class over the past few years to mostly positive reviews online. And it’s not the first airline to partner with a burger chain — United Airlines once served McDonald’s Happy Meals in the 1990s. The partnership between Delta and Shake Shack marks an expansion of the airline’s relationship with celebrated chef Danny Meyer, who founded the burger brand in 2004.

If you're going to try the city's famous hot chicken, do it right — and learn some of the history first. Not all Nashville hot chicken is the same. bhofack2/Getty ImagesIf there's one thing that's more synonymous with Nashville than music, it's hot chicken. Today, hot chicken pops up on menus across the city with all sorts of variations, but the dish has a long history in the Black community of Nashville. And I definitely think it's worth making the trip to Prince's to get the original hot chicken.

Fast food chains say they're locked in a "value war" to win increasingly choosy US customers. As a flurry of summer deals come to an end, quick-serve chains say they're now locked in a "value war" to win increasingly choosy US customers. Between higher ingredient usage and other costs on the one hand, and a more competitive consumer economy, interim CEO Scott Boatwright said Chipotle was well-positioned to win the "value war" in fast-casual dining. "We absolutely believe that value in an environment of value-seeking consumers is not about only executing price-pointed promotions and value deals and value bundles — there's more to that." Plosch added that beyond the burger chain's creative promotions, the core menu remains essential to getting customers to come back.

New York CNN —Wendy’s is closing 140 restaurants in the coming months, the fast food chain announced this week. But the company said it would open an equal number of new locations in areas it believes can generate better business for Wendy’s. “Overall, Wendy’s system is incredibly healthy.”This round of closures are in addition to 100 closings that Wendy’s announced in May. Despite the rounds of closures, the overall number of Wendy’s, which stands at about 6,000 in the US, isn’t shrinking. Other chains recently announced closures of underperforming locations, including Denny’s and Shake Shack.

Nearly 10% of restaurant menus have "sweet and spicy" items, up 1.8% over the last 12 months, according to market research firm Datassential. Common menu items have paired fruity flavors and chili powder, or used sauces like hot honey and gochujang, a red chili paste that's a popular Korean condiment. Courtesy: StarbucksAlthough the menu items were largely only available for a limited time, culinary experts think that the swicy trend has staying power. Buzzy, trendy menu items are more important now to restaurants, which are leaning on both discounts and innovation to attract diners and reverse declining sales. Limited-time menu items are particularly attractive to Gen Z customers, a key demographic because they account for roughly a fifth of Americans.
