North Carolina resident Michael Cusick and his Rivian R1T got caught in Hurricane Helene last week. But his experience with his Rivian R1T EV truck following Hurricane Helene — a storm that ravaged the southeast, including Cusick's home in Asheville, North Carolina — has cemented his position as a new Rivian convert. Cusick's Rivian in Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina earlier this year. A Rivian spokesperson told Inside EVs, which earlier reported on Cusick's truck, that Rivian battery packs are sealed to provide floodwater protection. The interior of Cusick's Rivian truck was kept dry during Hurricane Helene, Cusick told BI.

Demi Moore gives the wildest performance of her career in French filmmaker Coralie Fargeat's provocative new movie "The Substance." "The Substance" centers on Elisabeth Sparkle (Moore), a former A-lister whose career is on the decline. They can't survive separately because with Elisabeth dead, there's no more stabilizer fluid, and without stabilizer fluid, Sue can't continue to exist. So Sue's body (while she's en route to the big New Year's Eve performance) starts deteriorating: her teeth begin coming out, and a nail pops off. The monster rips down a photo of Elisabeth's younger face and tapes it on, then dolls itself up with carefully placed earrings and some makeup.

It sounds like the setup to a lightbulb joke: How much does it cost to change a microwave bulb? While my lightbulb situation may be somewhat unique, experts say it is not uncommon to learn the cost of repairs is more than the cost to replace an appliance. Figuring out the cost for a repairMy first call to repair our microwave was to the appliance store where I made the purchase. Several states — including California, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New York — have implemented so-called "right to repair" laws. Some products designed 'with a hostility to repair'Consumer advocates say state laws and the FTC actions help, but haven't solved the problem.

Here’s what you need to know about the massive software outage. Its systems are used by roughly 15,000 car dealerships across the United States and Canada. Under normal circumstances, the CDK software allows the dealership to register a vehicle almost instantaneously, but now the process faces heavy delays. It said it was able to bring a “small initial test group” of car dealerships back online. But the next morning, the company told dealerships another incident had happened.

“The financial impact it will directly have on us will take months to correct, if not years,” Callahan said. Tom McParland, the owner of Automatic Consulting, a national car buying service, said the outage was impacting customers because they have fewer dealers to choose from. “It limits the customer’s leverage.”Some dealers also can’t apply factory rebates without CDK’s software, so customers may miss out on money-saving deals. CNN —Tesla has issued two recalls on the Cybertruck, its third and fourth, since the model was introduced late last year. An investigation by Tesla revealed that the piece had not been properly installed. Cybertruck owners will be asked to bring their trucks to a Tesla service center where the trim piece will either be replaced or installed properly with “adhesion promotor” and pressure sensitive tape. The trucks are also being recalled for a separate issue in the electric motor that powers the truck’s single huge windshield wiper. Tesla has previously recalled the Cybertruck for other issues.

A former IRS employee was charged in Utah federal court for allegedly trying to steal $2.1 million in tax credits owed to Exxon Mobil by diverting the funds using a taxpayer database he had access to. Rupe was working at the IRS' service center in Ogden, Utah, in 2021 when he began the diversion scheme, according to an indictment filed Wednesday. As part of his job, Rupe "had the ability to adjust tax, credits, penalties, and interest to certain taxpayer accounts in an IRS computer database," the indictment said. In April 2022, the indictment says, Rupe accessed a database to transfer $2.02 million in tax credits from oil and gas giant Exxon's taxpayer account to Ex Xo Exteriors Ltd.'s taxpayer account, the indictment alleges. More than a year later, in August 2023, Rupe "accessed an IRS database to transfer the diverted tax credit funds from one tax year to another," the indictment says.

As a professional decluttrer, here are five things I recommend you purge today. As for throwing things away, don't worry about waste; keeping something but not using it is the same as consigning it to the trash. AdvertisementSo much 'other' stuff ends up in the bathroomMany things find their way into the bathroom that are only tangentially connected to hygiene. Items like candles, toys, lint rollers, irons — all kinds of things find their way into the bathroom and refuse to leave. If you don't actually use it in the bathroom, there might be a better place to store it.

New York CNN —Tesla has been ordered to recall nearly 4,000 of its Cybertrucks due to an accelerator pedal that can stick in place when pressed down. “An unapproved change introduced lubricant (soap) to aid in the component assembly of the pad onto the accelerator pedal. On Monday, NHTSA told CNN it had reached out to Tesla requesting more information on the issue. Unlike many Tesla recalls, this one cannot be fixed with a simple over-the-air software update.
