Hong Kong CNN —Chinese tech firms Baidu and SenseTime launched their ChatGPT-style AI bots to the public on Thursday, marking a new milestone in the global AI race.
The news sent its shares 3.1% higher in New York on Wednesday and 4.7% higher in Hong Kong on Thursday.
Meanwhile, SenseTime, an AI startup based in Hong Kong, also announced the public launch of its SenseChat platform on Thursday.
China published new rules on generative AI in July, becoming one of the world’s first countries to regulate the industry.
Since then, competitors such as Alibaba (BABA) and SenseTime have announced plans to launch their own ChatGPT-style tools, adding to the list of Chinese businesses jumping on the bandwagon.
