This summer, I found myself drawn to Senegal.
I had recently relocated from the Bahamas to Brooklyn and was yearning for community.
The way they talked about the place, the food, the drink, captivated me.
I was especially intrigued by descriptions of poulet yassa, a Senegalese meal that reminded me of steamed chicken, a soul-warming Bahamian dish that my mom would make.
