The Dutchman was appointed in April 2022 and won the 2023 Carabao Cup and 2024 F.A. But the club failed to qualify for this season's Champions League, Europe's premier competition, and currently sits 14th in the Premier League table after making its worst start to a season in 35 years. Ten Hag was informed of the decision less than 24 hours after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United. Brazilian winger Antony, a favorite of ten Hag from his time in charge of Dutch giants Ajax, exemplified the coach's transfer market failings.

The Miami Heat revealed a statue of franchise legend and basketball Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade on Sunday, with the design of the statue immediately going viral and drawing some unwanted comparisons. The statue’s design – which depicts Johnson in various stages of pitching motion – is certainly unique. Follow live coverage of the final round of the 2024 PGA Championship todayLOUISVILLE, Ky. — Justin Thomas predicted it so perfectly. Six of the biggest names in golf are within two shots of the lead on Sunday at the year’s second major championship. It served as a reminder — just as his hot start at the Masters did — of the truth about DeChambeau: Golf hated DeChambeau. That combined with a PGA Championship win to add to his 2013 U.S. Open win at Merion takes Rose from solid career to one of the best European golfers of the century. It coming at a PGA Championship (often viewed as the lowest of the four majors) wouldn’t help.

CNN —The most anticipated season of “The Crown” has arrived, and no one’s losing much sleep over the Queen this time. One of the many things that captivated viewers when “The Crown” arrived in 2016 was its cinematic scale. The lines between episodes one and three of season six, by contrast, are impossible to draw. As “The Crown” tells it, Al-Fayed’s relentless campaign to see his son Dodi and Diana engaged and thus secure British citizenship is almost as culpable for their deaths as the crash itself. Diana’s final night in Paris is rendered as the fatal culmination of Al-Fayed’s engineering of their relationship, and his pressure on Dodi to propose.

CNN —An 18th century bust bought for £5 ($6) nearly 100 years ago by a Scottish town council could sell for more than £2.5 million ($3 million). The bust of landowner and lawmaker John Gordon was sculpted by noted French artist Edmé Bouchardon. At the British Open, a Scotsman named Ivor Robson became one of the most distinctive and revered voices in golf by saying little. Called a starter, he stood at a lectern near the first tee at each round of that major championship, where his job was simple: to introduce each player. “On the tee, from U.S.A., Jack Nicklaus,” he would say in his slightly high-pitched, singsong brogue. He did not eat or drink anything before he took his position or for the next nine or 10 hours. Nor would he take a bathroom break, at a “comfort station,” even if he had time between introductions.

“Our plan will drive far more growth and opportunity here in the north than a faster train to London ever would,” he said Wednesday. Some of the alternatives Sunak highlighted were predicated on the delivery of HS2, said Henrietta Bailey, CEO of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. “This is the biggest and most damaging U-turn in the history of UK infrastructure,” the High Speed Rail Group, which represents companies such as Siemens, Hitachi and Bombardier, said in a statement. “The decision … sends a hugely disappointing message about our commitment to completing major infrastructure projects in the UK,” said Stephen Phipson, chief executive of Make UK, which represents manufacturing firms. The country must hope that his latest policy reversal doesn’t deter investors and further undermine a struggling UK economy, perpetuating a doom-loop of weak growth and underinvestment.
